SD Card reader on PC - HELP!!!

Going Crazy here: my PC's SD card slot seems to work only for 1 of my SD cards. (My old one with only 2GB storage, that I have used for years).

I have hours of footage to transfer from 4 other SD cards (that belong to someone else) and the PC won't read them! It gives me a message as follow:

D:\ is not accessible. The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error.

    Any suggestions?
Is my PC just being a fussy brat?

    Thanks for your help!

I had that problem, it only worked intermittently.

I got around the problem by using an external usb card reader.

There's someone in Ireland selling them for €2 inc P&P on ebay.

Thanks for the tip: I just find it infuriating that I bought a PC with cards slots integrated and that it does a tenth of the job it's meant to do. I know the external card readers are cheap, but I don't want to buy one out of principle. This thing WILL work or I will DESTROY it, I swear.
