How do I appeal??

I've been turned down for the grant AGAIN. I was told 3 years ago I would be eligible in 4th year, as I'd be entering level 8 for the first time. I've been independent of my parents since 2004, they wanted to means test me for 2007 this year which makes no sense, I was abroad all that year anyway.

I went to a councillor and he looked into it, they told him I hadn't been out of education for 3 years, but I was out of it for 4 years from may 2004 until september 2008, surely they don't mean I should have left 3 years between finishing my ordinary degree this year and going into 4th year? Trained monkeys would come up with more logical rules than this.....

Also I want to try and appeal but I can't find the appeal forms on the student finance website, does anyone know where I can get them?

    Thanks

The rules have changed this regarding this break in study. You must now have a 3 year break in study from the end of your previous course before u can apply as a mature independent student.
You will get an appeal form from your local VEC but they must also give you a letter giving a reason for not finding you ineligible for a grant and you should enclose this letter with your appeal form.

That's ridiculous, it's an add on degree not a whole new course ffs :(

So if I want to do a masters next year I still won't be able to apply as a mature independent?

Unless you are three years out of education, you're better off to apply under your parents income again. If it's next you're talking about, you had better check as the new scheme next year might differ from this year's scheme.
