    Hi lads,
joined up here specifically for this so...
I used to always Zombies with my friend.
I had a netopia nat type 1 router. he has a nat type 3.
We were always able to connect fine and I had an open nat.
One day, I rang Eircom about my slow download speed.
They had told me my router was faulty.
They gave me a new zyxel and I was able to connect to my friend fine.
Then all of a sudden my nat type was moderate and he couldn't join.
    Please Help.
    Thanks.

Make sure you change your firewall setting to low on your router!

the wireless signal strength is sh1te on those modems.

so the connection is either timing out when your trying to connect because you're too far away or sometimes the wpa key is too long.

tbh get a proper modem from a shop.it will have a stronger signal strength and have more options to geting your nat set to open.

if you're serious about online gaming bypass wireless completely and just run cat5..you're ping will drop and you'll host more games.

ever work in a big office?how many of the pc's are connected wirelessly?the answer is none because its seriously unreliable.

sorry thought it was a wireless connection as sometimes the connection can time out when acquiring a ip address

as for wired i found them the same but the netopia was better for wireless.tried streaming movies over the zxgel and it shat itself.

i had to bum a netopia off a mate after getting my original one died and the zxgel was useless.

I rang eircom and they said to give the ps3 a static ip and then open ports for that particular game. They dont support port forwarding and sent me to a website where ther's screen shots of what to do on the zxgel modem.gimme a minute and i'll get the website.they had to email me it as i had no pen or nothing!

I got open nat in mw2/blops after doing it

edit:strangely enought the website is portforward.com!lol:) just look for your router model from the list then select the game and platform its on and there's screen shots of every step

you should have open nat if
    1)you turned firewall off
    2)opened the correct ports
    3)connected using the PPPoE username/password(eircom@eircom.net /broadband1)

otherwise buy a proper modem that has a DMZ:D

I had one but they couldnt stream movies to save its life so swapped it out for a linksys(which crapped itself) and i got an old netopia

Might have an old netopia router/modem up in the rents place. You based in the city brainbox? If it's there it's only gathering dust.

Also, there's like a gigantic post on NAT types here on boards. Too tired to look for it but do a Eugoogly and it should come up. Helped me out a bunch before.

nope based in newmarket but its near-ish cork city. bout 40 miles.
I tried everything to do with nat.
I think this might have happened(nat type going to moderate and cant join friend)when I used a proxy on ps3 for cod4 cl.
my proxy is off though so i dont know :/.
    thanks.
