ye not a fan and have actually just stopped listening when she is on

She has a nice voice for radio I think. And she does seem to love music which is better than just loving the sound of her own voice. Her show at least has more songs played per hour than anything else on k-roq's day time schedule from what I've heard.

Me too, I pop in a CD on the way home from work now I can't stand her. She sounds like a 7 year old on radio, when ever she talks to guests and listeners on the show its absolutely painful its so forced. I don't know how she got a job in radio

She is somewhat aesthetically pleasing though.

Clare is now nearly on every single ad break in the morning, she's now ruining pure morning, I have to change channel everytime she comes on.

Yeah, she's a melter! She is not funny in the slightest! Ahhh she actually does my bloody nut in. Hope she gets moved on soon.

If you don't like the afternoon on Phantom vote with your feet, or ears or whatever. Moaning about it on an internet forum isn't going to make any difference. If listener ratings go down the station is more likely to do something about it.

Personally I listen to Phantom in the morning, Nova in the afternoon and my own music at home (a mix of what you would hear on Phantom / Nova TBH).

If you get annoyed listening to the likes of Claire Beck on Phantom or Pat Courtney on Nova try a trip down the country in the car and see how long you can last before you have to stick on a CD. You will welcome Claire beck back with open arms! :pac:

Here's the current top 40. Do you really think you could listen to any of this than tolerate a bit of Claire?:P

I'm not in wrong forum at all, so I won't be popping anywhere. Just saying I'd rather listen to the top 40 rather than Claire Beck, I'd say other people would take up the challenge also.

MCMLXXV I have abandoned Phantom in the afternoon, replacing Richie with the Spinny was a terrible idea. My issue is she is now ruining other programs as they desperately keep trying to plug her program.

I'm not disagreeing and you're doing the right thing - voting with your feet as such, I've done the same myself. In relation to ads for her show on at other times surely you can put up with that? There's worse ads out there or does the sound of her voice really bother you that much?

The whole 'I'm mad' thing is well cringe though in fairness!

It's the really sh1t sarcasm in her ads that annoy the hell outta me! She is just not funny.

from the Phantom updates on facebook, it seems that they just copy every subject that the Newstalk breakfast show talks about.

I haven't listened to Phantom in the afternoon in months due to them wanting to make it a chat station with some music thrown in, instead of a music station.
tbh, i only listen to Phantom these days when i'm stuck with the radio and nothing else to listen to, i never really want to put it on and see what's being played as it's always the same rubbish from morning until the specialist shows at night.

just went on the Phantom site as i typed this, Jason Byrne has a 2 hour show on Mondays. he may well play decent music, i'd say it's more likely that it's some "wacky" chat with the same bog standard chart-indie that the other weekday shows play. yet another reason not to bother putting on Phantom.

i wouldn't put it all down to the presenters though, the producers and station managers who decide the format and direction of the shows, and whoever's in charge of the overall music policy/playlist are far more responsible for how crap Phantom has become.

The show at this time was always more chatty than other Phantom shows. Think of when Simon Marr was on, lots of talking. As fro Muirean, she has a good radio voice, but she's a **** host. I can't listen to it.

He's about as funny as 9/11. Thank God it's only one day a week.

You can definetly hear the changes that taking Denis O'Brien's cash has made. Far too much of a Spin influence. (Like the all new and all ****e Phantom Anthems.)

Oops, went off topic with my rant above. As regards Claire Beck, I think she's a good presenter. She keeps the chat down and plays pretty good tunes. After being Phantom less down the country over the Xmas, it made me realise just how bad other stations are. Cut her some slack and be glad we have Phantom up her in the big shmoke. Might not be perfect, but it's better than everything else out there.

I don't care what anyone else here thinks, I really enjoy her show on my drive home after work. I think she's much better than the English guy they had on before her. She always enthusiastic about the tunes she plays, she interactive with her audience and keeps the chat to a minimum. You can't ask for much more from a music radio show.

The English guy you are referring to is Richie Ryan who is now on after her at 7pm Mondays to Wednesdays and from 8pm on Thursdays with "Key Cuts"! He is also the presenter of "Stadium Rock" on Saturday afternoons.

I have heard Claire Beck a few times now and I think she's pretty good, as is Richie Ryan!

Richie McCormick should present every show

The English guy is great... Richie Ryan possibly

That's not every week, and it's only on the Saturday show. Other than that, he holds the shows together better than other presenters
