I had a look in a few shops (not many) and it was much the same as the shops down here.
Nearly everything else was cheaper up there though.

We bought our wedding rings in H Samuel in Newry. The ring I wanted was €180 and £89.99 up there which worked out at about €101. The ring himself wanted was silver and H Samuel's down here don't stock silver wedding rings but the 9ct white gold version of his ring down here was €375 and the silver version of it in Newry was also £89.99. So for what we wanted, we spent around €202, a saving of €353.

Definitely worth a look, browse a few websites to see if you like anything before heading up. Was worth the trip for us as we live in Dublin North City so it was straight up on the M1 (1 hour trip, €20 petrol round trip 1L engine car) and we did a big shop in Sainsbury's while we were there.

Not up North, but have you/are you able to make it over to either Hatton Garden in London or the Jewellery Quarter in Birmingham?

Most of the shops there are manufacturing jewellers, and you can haggle the price down in a lot of cases. More bang for your buck so's to speak! :D

Jack Murphy was it? I have been in contact with them today, thinking of heading up Saturday as I will be in Dublin anyway.
