Essex Clear Retainer (HELP PLEASE!!!)

    Hi everyone,
I got my braces off there two weeks agao and was given Essex clear retainers to wear for 6 months 24/7 before switching to night only.

Anyway I have been wearing them religiously 24/7 only taking off to brush and eat as advised.

I was given a spare set and decided just to try them on tonight, the thing is the spare set were really really tight to put on and it was a bit of a struggle.

I'm worried now that my teeth have moved despite the fact I've been wearing my original set like clockwork as advised.

Why were the spare set tighter to put on????

I'd really appreciate anyone's comments that have had Essex retainers before.

I'm just so worried they aren't retaining my teeth and I'm wasting my time wearing them if my teeth are moving anyway....

    Thanks for listening

We your teeth will shift a small bit and the first retained will have softened and slightly distorted with wear, the new one will feel tight this is normal. We are talking very small, imperceptible changes that are perfectly normal.

Hi Fitz, many thanks for the reply. I do appreciate it. I think I was worrying about nothing really.

Unfortunately I'm after chipping my bottom first molar by eating a packet of Tayto. No idea how I did it.

Can wearing braces all that time weaken my teeth?
