Combustible clearance for mulberry Stoker?

We were looking at a Mulbarry Stoker today; it's a 6.5kW insert stove that slots into the existing fireplace, with no need to remove the fireback.

We have a wooden fire surround with a case iron insert with an arch, so the insert would have to go. The guy in the fireplace shop we were in today said we couldn't use a wooded surround with an insert stove, we'd have to go all stone. We'd rather have a marble insert and wooden surround.

We're not keen on that idea and not entirely convinced that it's true, either, but I've been looking for combustible clearance figures for the Stoker and can't find any so I'm stumped.

    Any thoughts?
