That's serious bucks for an i3!!!
I have a DV6 in an i5 that I bought off a chap from adverts and I'm married to it. In other words, I haven't a hope in hell of getting rid of it. It overheats like crazy. I'm 25 years repairing computers and i've never seen anything like it. I have stripped it down, cleaned the fans and re done the thermal and it still shows over 100 degrees after three minutes into a handbrake rip.

It's a beautiful machine all right. One thing I can't get over however, is the screen. I cant read the bloody thing. It's very hard to look at. I can't exactly pin point what the problem is, but I'm fixing ten year old toshibas and they are far easier on the eye. I don't know if it's the high gloss, or if I have settings wrong but really and truely I would shove it out the door If I could get my 400 euro back on it that I paid.

With all the computers I have worked on, my favourite hast to be the dells. Don't ask me why, I can get a dell out the door and back on the road faster than any other machine. They are rock sold, they look good and you will pay for them!
If you are windows shopping, have a look at Lenovo. These guys are the laptop making arm of IBM. I've sold close to a dozen of them since summer and there hasn't been one complaint. I think they are one of the best value systems out there at the moment. Compare prices with www.box.co.uk before parting with money. Obviously a local retailer will be slightly higher because of their overheads although, you don't mind paying that given the fact you will have somebody to bring it straight back to if something goes wrong. However, there are plenty of rip off merchants out there. A new lenovo that I was selling for €319 was on sale in one of our local "superstores @ 30% off was retailing for €599!

Good luck with your purchase and don't be talked into long warranty plans and silly anti virus packages!

HP = Good Printers, sh*t Laptops.

Using your budget you can get this delivered to your door for €675, way better CPU, GPU, bigger HDD, more RAM, better brand. Irish Site, you can go to the Warehouse and collect it after you pay for it.

Harvey Norman one is still available.

    These two should be considered:

    (1) Lenovo = €533ish delivered
    (2) Acer = €475ish delivered

These have Nvidia 520M GPU ranked a little bit lower than the Radeon 6490 in the HP you were looking at but may do you fine and you'd saving a nice bit.

    PC World price is Crazy.

    Read reviews before you buy.

This model has a cooling fans that kick in when it reaches a high temperature. It also has a good screen without any glare, and has a system where if it senses the laptop has been dropped , it locks all parts before it hits the ground which prevents damage to the hardware. Basically it seems like they have brought out a new model and improved on what you said where bad aspects of it. I still dont know what to do
