    Hi,

Im trying to pick a musical and sort out tickets in London for the first weekend in December.
I really don't have any preferences but one of the girls (there's 3 of us) would like to see Legally Blonde or Wicked. We are in our late 20's and I dont know which one to go for-or is there anything else that would be highly recommened?? I have never been to a musical before ( I dont think any of us have) so I'd like something memorable and enjoyable.

    Thanks,

    Caroline

Priscilla Queen of the Desert is great fun for a girly night out. Did it with my friends in June.

Wicked can be great but it depends on the cast...some of the leads have been poor (I've seen it 5 times in London..and 4 elsewhere :D)

Legally Blonde is great fun, total cheese but fun.

I’d highly recommend Wicked! I haven’t seen legally blonde, but imagine it would be fairly cheesy and not one to stand the test of time. If it’s your first time make it one to be remembered :)

I’ve heard very good things about the lion king too.

But under no circumstances go to Joseph and the amazing technicoloured dreamcoat :/

    I'm going for Priscilla!
Best show ever for a girly night out.

Thanks for the replies-looks like its going to be between Priscilla and Legally Blonde! Totally cheese (Legally Blonde) sounds good though, it might keep us all happy!

But i'd be happy with either!

    Thanks again.

I didn't enjoy Priscilla as much as I thought I would. Legally Blonde is alright. Wicked is the best, for sure. Go with Wicked!

The only one's I've seen are Annie & Curtains. Both are great,

Legally Blonde will be in Ireland on tour within the next 12 months so I wouldn't waste the London trip on that, though it is a great show.

I've seen Wicked 9 times...and love the show...but it does depend greatly on the cast. I'm not a huge fan of the current London cast.

Priscilla closes in late December which is a pity. It's a great fun show. I'm just back from NY and I saw it on Broadway and loved it again. I actually think the London cast is better though.

Yeah, the best cast has long gone :(

And an added bonus for Home & Away fans, Ray Meagher (Alf) is back in the cast (and will see it out to the end, I think).

thanks for the information re Legally Blonde, yeah it might be better to see something like Priscilla or Wicked in London.

I've seen the film Princilla only once before -on a 3 day bus journey across Oz randomly enough!I loved it and im a Home and Away fan too!

We'd need to hurry up and book something anyway,i'll get on to my friend in London and get something sorted this weekend!

    Thanks again

Check out the London discounts on broadwaybox.com - you might be able to pre-book cheap tickets! Avoid lastminute.com theatre discounts, they don't tell you your seat location until you get to the theatre and I've always had pretty crappy ones even at what would have been top price..they seem to give you the worst of the best.

Phantom of the opera is still my favourite out of all the shows I've seen( although maybe not girly enough ;).Wicked comes in a close second.

The Sound of Music, just love Julie Andrews in that. I like the music from the Broadway play of Annie Get Your Gun with Ethel Merman.

ok so I went to book Legally Blonde for the first Sat in December and it worked out at £84 each ( I thought it was the total price!)!! No way can I afford that for a show-are they usually this price or did I leave it too late to book?
I searched around further and got Priscilla Queen of the Desert £118 for 4 people but it's literaly the very back row of the back balcony in the Palace ( I think its the Palace). Are they worth getting??anybody that has seen it able to tell me?

    Thanks again.

Will you be in London on the Saturday morning? If so it might be worth holding on and heading to TKTS in Leicester Square.

Top price tickets for shows in London can be around the £80 mark (premium tickets start at £150) so LB could just be that that's all they have left at the moment. They give different allocations to different booking agencies (seetickets.com, ticketmaster etc) and closer to the show time they often get returns.

As neither are new, top demand shows I'd be tempted to TKTS it. Priscilla is best seen closer than back row.

Thanks for that. Yeah we'll be around the centre of London being tourists all day (i've only been once before). We'll try TKTS,thanks a million.
It won't be the end of the world if we don't see a show, it's just I hear they are all so good so we thought while we are over there we really should see one.

    Thanks again

Have you booked anything yet? I think £84 each is very steep and you can get really good tickets for like £50-£60 usually!

Anyway, I loved Wicked the Musical but I saw Legally Blonde 2 days ago and thought it was fab. Cheesy, yes, but not in a bad way - it's meant to be cheesy! Taking it too seriously wouldn't be right.

Priscilla is good and is closing at the end of the year so might be one to check out before it's gone for good, but I personally preferred Legally Blonde.

I saw Legally Blonde in April and it was amazing! Cheesy? extremely but it has a good story line and good characters and as for Wicked I've never seen it but I am dying to and am going in June to see it! :D

Heading to see Wicked on Saturday - ticketmaster had an awful selection of tickets left!

Booked through love london theatre or something like that and got very decent seats! Only booked last week too! Think it was near 300 for 4 people! though there was a nice service charge which was included but for the seats we got we didnt care really!

So I'm back from London!! The plan was to leave going to a show as I felt I couldn't afford the tickets in end but my wonderful friend surprised me with a trip to Legally Blonde in the Savoy last Friday night!! Such a treat, she only told me a couple of hours before the show.

We loved it! Yes cheesey but the actors were brilliant-how do they do it every night!! Very enjoyable show and good story line! We were pretty high up and the seats are v.tight going (you wouldnt want to be too big or anything) but luckily where we were the 2 rows in front of us were completly vacant as they had restricted viewing so we swung our legs over and had that extra bit of space!

I would highly recommend Legally Blonde, thanks for all the suggestions!

Snap, I just saw legally blonde in London too! For the record I was wrong… it was very enjoyable :P I only went because I got discounted tickets at the TKTS booth, but it was so much fun! Definitely a good girly one to see. I’m still not sure if it will become a ‘classic’ but I would still rate it highly for a girls night out :)

I also saw the lion king, which was amazing! And the wizard of oz too (I have a problem…), but legally blonde was definitely better than that. I think wicked is still my overall favourite though :o

I recommend Hairspray, it's a great musical. I think that a lot of girls would like it.

Is the musical like the film? I've only seen the film... but I was absolutely bored to tears
