    When it comes to software I am miles behind still on XP (because I love it)

    but needs be unfortunately - have to switch to Win 7 asap

    Have looked up online - seem to be wildly ranging prices

    I need "normal" home Windows 7 64 bit, I am living on the continent so its all in French over here and expensive, anyone know of any sites where I could download and run it today? (digital download)

    The microsoft site quotes 120 euros which is ridiculous

    Otherwise I'll just have to order it online and wait till midweek.

    thanks

    A french retail licence should work on a english installation disc.

    You can download the legit iso files from amazon or digital river and use the licence from the copy you buy in store

    Or else just buy it from digital river (part of microsoft afaik) if its cheaper. That way you can get official support if the instalation has any problems :P

    Are you a student? or do you still have access to an old college email address?

    => http://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msstore/pd/productID.216644200?Icid=Student_HUB_4up_Windows

    works out as about 22 euro for 64 bit win7 pro. they charge an extra bit if you need physical discs but theres no need for them if you save the dl links above.

    Please don't post direct access links to downloads, even (especially!) from legitimate sites. If the OP wants to purchase it, point him to where he can do so. If an issue arises out of that purchase, the OP should contact the relevant support teams.

    Just out of interest what exactly do you need to do on Windows 7 that you can't do on XP.
