    Hi All,

A friend of mine has recently lost the sight in her right eye. This has obviously restricted her peripheral vision on her right hand side. Are there any systems available to help with this. I was thinking of using something like a rear view camera which would look out the driver window, at least from this she would be able to spot something coming in to her blindspot.

Also does anyone know of any legal restrictions to using a system like this, or is it even legal to drive with sight in only one eye?

    Thanks
    Brian

Perfectly legal to drive with only sight in one eye, as long as she has already informed her insurance company.

As for driving aids, maybe parking sensors front and rear and a blind spot mirror. Also look at getting a second rear view mirror to help see traffic passing on her right.

speaking from experience she will learn to compensate with time and will drive with her head turned slightly in the direction of the missing eye.

she will have no need for any aids and will be able to drive as normal.

I know a guy with one eye who is driving for 20 years that way. He will admit that he has poor judgement of space etc due to the single eye and drives very carefully as a result. He also says that pulling out of junctions is quite difficult as he has to turn his head completely to look in each direction. I dont think he is that safe to be honest.
