Just recently moved into new apartment and cant seem to figure out the heating system for the water..at the moment im getting up an hour early to set the boost button for an hour to heat the water...there's only myself in the apartment...can i set the timer?

i have studied it and havent a clue how to set it...plus i don't need that much water for a 15min max shower..would it be a waste of money to set the timer or am i waisting electricity by turning the switch (check attatchment) on everytime i want the hot water? cheers in advance!

That switch with the light on is probably for the shower pump only, not the immersion.

The E7 timer is usually installed where you have a dual tariff ESB meter, and get cheaper electricity on the night rate. The E7 timer is preset by the installer to use only the night rate electricity unless you use the boost function, so just leave it set to 'TIMED' and make sure the correct time is set against the 'Summer Time' mark on the main clock dial. (you don't need to adjust it when the clocks change at the end of March/Oct)

Night rate electricity is about 50% cheaper than day rate, so you should avoid using the boost if you can.

balls...been using the boost switch all along..excuse my ignorance so i presume when its around 4pm now i should place the summer time tick to 16?

Hey I have the same problem but I don't have a dual switch there is only the water heater switch with the light same as IH8TXT:) which is in the hall and a separate switch (flash Immermat is written on it!!) in the kitchen for the heating.
We have to turn ours on at night for 1.5 hours to have a shower in the morning and I am very scared at the prospect of getting my electricity bill!
It's such a pain having to remember to turn it and if we go out for an evening its cold showers all around in the morning
Any help would be appreciated cheers!!

What type of heating have you got? It's probably more cost effective to use oil or gas to heat hot water if you have the option. If your house is all electric then you probably have a dual rate ESB meter and it would be worth getting an immersion timer installed so you can use cheaper night rate electricity.

Its gas heating and electric for the hot water. The switch says water heater on it but other immersions i've seen don't have anything written on them-is it still the same thing?
The land lady was of no use when I asked her about it and I've only ever had gas heating before so apologies if I'm being stupid!!
