So I'm thinking of getting an 04 vectra soon enough but I've heard mixed reviews so what do you guys think?

There are a number of different models and engine sizes out there, petrol and diesel, which one are you looking at?

1.7 petrol as for the model I have no idea what model it is

The only 1.7 litre Vectra was the older model diesel. A 04 Vectra would have the following engines:

    1.6 petrol
    1.8 petrol
    1.9 diesel
    2.2 diesel
    2.8 petrol

It's an ok car, does nothing briliantly, interior is an aquired taste, you will either love the car or hate it. The 1.9 diesel is the best of that bunch. The 1.6 petrol being the worst for perforance and fuel economy. If you can afford it try and stretch to a 05 facelifted model as they made lots of improvements including a better looking front.

If it were my money I would be looking at a Ford Mondeo or Mazda 6 instead, they can be bought for similar money to the Vectra and superior in almost every way.

Yeah it's a 1.8 just checked there, see, I've always liked the way it's been designed but anyone I ask tells me they are dirt I also had my eye on an Audi a4 you know, for a plan b

Most Vectra 1.8 litre models are the GTS 5 door hatchback which probably look the best. I would not call the Vectra dirt but there are better options out there as I have mentioned already. The A4 is more expensive to buy so you will be getting less value for your money.

What kind of budget do you have?

I'd be looking at something along the lines of these:

    2005 Mazda 6 1.8 litre:

    2006 Opel Vectra 1.8 litre:

Th 1.9 diesel is the best of that bunch. The 1.6 petrol being the worst for perforance and fuel economy.

There were 2x 1.9 diesels, an 8 valve 110bhp and a 16 valve 150bhp. I had the former in an 07 Signum. Reasonable torque, reasonable fuel economy at 120kmh on motorway but more limited mid range acceleration. No major problems.

Most people hate them because Jeremy Clarkson told them to.

My old mans was great (until I wrote it off - did bloody well in the crash too!).
