Is the Roald Dahl collection the one that comes in a box? Been wanting that for ages, amazing price if so!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,396 ✭✭✭lindtee

As far as I know the UK site don't deliver here unless you have found a way around it? The Irish site is a total rip off in comparison to the UK one, sometimes nearly twice the price.

The Roald Dahl collection is 28.99 on the IE site!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14 darraghdog

Yep, I've been looking out for both collections. I just stuck to the UK site on checkout. And when filling out the address picked Ireland. I made a second order they kept directing me to the Irish site so I deleted my cookies and it worked thru UK site again... It says order is processed... So look ok so far.

.co.uk doesn't seem to have any problem with delivery to Ireland; just purchased the Roald Dahl collection plus another collection thereby bringing order over 25 GBP. Selected 'ireland' the country poplist. Works fine!

Yay!! They do seem to deliver from the UK site to here now, brilliant news that we don't have to pay the rip off Irish prices anymore. Thanks OP:) Ended up spending way more than I had planned to though!! Spend £43.95 (about €52) which would have been €84.85 on the Irish site:eek: Big difference and I got some Rhs desk diary thrown in free!

The code POST15 should give free delivery for orders over £15 (found on HUKD)

I have never used this site before, I filled in my basket, registered and
now has me on Irish prices:eek:
I keep selecting "change to UK site" down the bottom but it won't do anything

    HELP

Good offers for kids on Thebookpeople.co.uk, reported by HUKD

    Roald Dahl Collection - 15 Books @ 15.99GBP.

The World of Peter Rabbit Collection - 23 Books @ 30GBP.

I just managed to get free delivery (over 25GBP) over the UK site and those prices... try to avoid being sent to the Irish site where they are a lot more expensive!

Cheers OP - Picked up the winnie the pooh collection in hardback

You're right, Lindtee, thebookpeople definitely take the piss out of their Irish customers.

The World of Peter Rabbit Collection - 23 Books

    £30 on .co.uk = €35.02
    €55 on .ie site.

    What a fookin rip off!
    Very nice boxset though

Bumping this up because www.thebookpeople.co.uk are still taking orders from Ireland. Use code AFVOUCHER35 for 15% off (orders over £35) and a free RHS diary or gift wrap if you spend over £40. Doubt they will continue taking orders from Ireland on the UK site for much longer so get the orders in sooner than later.

No, was dispatched yesterday though so hopefully should have it soon:) Made another order earlier this evening but had to clear all the book people cookies on my browser and use another email to get the sterling prices again.

Thanks for the info, Lindtee, it's good to see people are willing to share their experiences on Bargain Alerts.

Nice one lindtee, I did the same and was able to order the Peter Rabbit and Famous Five collections for just £34 (just under €40) by doing this (and using the voucher you posted for 15% saving), so saved €35 - the euro price was €74.49 - some markup!!

That is so funny! I was just thinking the same thing, these would make lovely gifts. I used to love the Roald Dahl books, good to see they are still popular.

    Thanks OP!

Is any order delivered yet? I made order 2nd sept and delivered only one book out of 15(Christmas present), my account withdrawn full amount. I just wonder is that only my order?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,275 ✭✭✭donnacha

my 4th sept got delivered yesterday - seriously large box in comparison to the order inside! maybe check with your an post sorting office as they may have tried to deliver and have it sitting there waiting for you to pick up.

Ordered the Roald Dahl collection on 3rd October and delivered this morning. As the poster above said, the box it comes in is ridiculously oversized!!

my order was shipped on the 5th and arrived today in the morning, the tracking system never worked for me, i have been trying to track it about 5 times a day in different times. i had online chat with the bookpeople customer service and she couldn't track it either.

    but thank god it arrived!

Did this happen anyone else? will contact the book people to see if they can send it onto me again

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,833 ✭✭✭irishproduce

    Everyone else seems ot have.
I didn't see that anyone else used NI addresses.

    Hi Irish

To purchase off the uk version of the site you had to enter a post code to avoid getting redirected to the .ie site and much higher prices.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,350 ✭✭✭skywalker_208

My Peter Rabbit and Roald Dahl boxsets arrived today. Both in one box!
    Great bargain thanks OP.

Think my statement said it was €54 delievered for both!

No, no you didn't, Trishka. Was able to purchase perfectly easily from the UK site without faffing around with a UK postcode.

I used UK website too and Ireland, both arrived this morning.

    Great BA, thanks op.

Was about to put an order through on the UK site. All went well but it is looking for £6.99 postage for Julia Donaldson Book Collection - 10 Books.

These look like small paperback books ...... a bit steep on postage?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 442 ✭✭random.stranger

Yep, if your order total comes to 25 pound or more, you will qualify for free postage. Postage is a bit steep otherwise.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 261 ✭✭caycro

I just bought from this site (Roald Dahl collection back in stock) and I put Ireland in as my shipping option, the system accepted it and on the confirmation order the shipping method was listed as 'Irish & Islands Delivery' so they must be continuing to ship to Ireland (that said, it hasn't arrived yet!!)

Sadly, the discount code didn't work for me though !!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 41 pd40

Has anyone ordered from thebookpeople.co.uk in the last week or so? I've tried but I keep getting changed over to the Irish site... Hopefully not back to the old days of those (inflated!) prices...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,275 ✭✭✭donnacha

I ordered some books on monday - worked fine.
Also used code "OFFERSEP" for free shipping on orders over £1.
