    hey guys,
need a bit of help here. i bought a car last week and it has a few scratches on the bonnet, just light white ones, nothing too serious. anyways i tried to use one of those scratch remover pens and that didnt help a bit-it just made a clear film over the scratch and it stands out. how can i remove this light clear film. i have bought scratch remover paste and a liquid colour restorer and i want to try these - what is the best method. thanks. ps the car is dark blue if it makes a difference

The light clear film is lacquer, all those magic pens contain is a crappy form of lacquer ... how they're allowed to sell them is beyond me, and why people think that there's some miracle pen that can restore paint match any colour is equally baffling. If there were, bodyshops would just stock up on the pens ... they're the homeopathy of the motor trade!

All you can do to remove the lacquer from the pen is compound it, but it'll be down inside the scratch now, and it'll be difficult to remove that so the coloured wax can go down there instead.

I agree! Polishing compounds have moved on a lot since t cut came out.

If you can feel the scratch with your finger nail, theen unfortuantely the only way to fully remove it would be to paint it, but if it is very light then compounding/polishing it should remove it or at least make it less visable.

T-cut is no miracle worker. If you have fine scratches in the lacquer it will help but there are plenty other products out there that do the same.

Sorry Pudzey, T Cut is terrible. There are far better products out there.

    sexy marketing!:D

get a professional (like owen) to comopund and buff it for you, and have done with it instead of wasting yer cash OP on stuff that'll not sort it.

If your lacquer or clearcoat is peeling off (probably as a result of a dodgy respray), T-cut is about as useful as black shoe polish. The damage is already done and only a respray will fix same properly.

    No offense, just saying.
