Was in snn today collecting the sis-in-law from the Delta, did'nt see any IL-62. Plenty of Omni aircraft, 2 DC10s at the gate and 2 767s parked out in the field. Looked like a TUI A330 at Shannon Aerospace, the only other aircraft of note were a forlorn looking DC9/MD80 and a B727 (not Iberia) parked near the hangers by Eirtech.

The only Il-62 fights that appear in Shannon now tend to be diplomatic ones stopping for coming or going to the Americas. So unless you had prior knowledge of a stop you would want to be within an hour of Shannon.
The last time I seen one in Shannon was back in 2007.

Any truth to the story that the Russians stole the plans of the Vickers VC-10 to ' design ' the Il-62 ?

That TUI in Aerospace is a 767, should be departed by now I think.
The MD80 is also an aerospace plane, arrived back in march or april I'd say to have the engines removed, the A/C hasn't moved since!!!
The 727 is belonging to Air Atlanta, afaik the use it for their trainees to work on, every so often it gets pulled over outside their hangar.

The 727 VP-BNA also has the brakes removed from the aircraft which makes towing it interesting
