I have 2 film cameras that belonged to my late dad. First is a Canon EOS 1 with drive booster. Second is a Fujica STX 1. I dont own a digital camera and would like one. Would these cameras be worth anything even as a trade in ? Do people still use film cameras ? I dont know what to do with them. Any Advice ?

You could try selling them over on Adverts.ie

People do still use Film cameras too.

You might make more money from any lenses that are with the camera.
Glass tends to hold it's value better.

Check the lenses for markings and lettering.

Check on ebay, or just google shopping search, and you might get an idea of value.

If you need more help just ask on here.

Its just a bag with 2 cameras with lenses in it. No chargers, instruction books, nothing. I will try and get a picture of them and post here and see what you think. If I could swap the 2 for a decent digital camera I would.

you should get a few bob for the 1 series. Try ebay, you might get four hundred for it which would go a fair bit towards a new camera.

I would need to charge it to make sure its working, Its totally dead. How much is a charger for the Eos ? Is it a common charger or specilist ?

If it's a film camera, then there will be no charger. You'll just have to buy a new battery for it.
    From wikipedia for EOS-1:
"Power comes from one 2CR5 battery, an optional BP-E1 Battery Pack housing four AA alkaline or lithium batteries or the PB-E1 Power Booster drive housing eight AA batteries and allowing for 5.5 frames per second to be photographed, depending on the type of battery and the shutter speed selected."

Ok right. I will have a good gander at it later. I have loads of aa batteries here, I might just have to buy the other small battery. Will keep u posted. thanks

I dont think you will get a lot, if anything, for the Fujica STX 1. Its a fairly basic, manual mode SLR from the early 80's and was an entry level camera then.

Yeah ok. I checked the battery pack on the Canon and its a sealed unit which would sit in a cradle to charge.

You have a good Film SLR there. Why not start shooting some film yourself? There are plenty here using film and it's a good way to learn about Photography. Then if you do sell the camera you will have a much better idea about how to do that and also have a fair idea of what you want in a DSLR.
