    hi people
    i have an 2001 avensis d4d ok, and the engine is getting old :(
    my engine is 1AD-FTV but it only has 109hp now heres my question
    i can get my hands on a 04 2.0 d4d 1AD-FTV engine with 125hp:D,does anybody know if i could swap the engine(would the loom,ecu,mounting)be the same

    The 125hp came out in 2006. A 2004 will be 116hp

    If you're down on power, checking the injectors and turbo would be worthwhile. When your car was new, theyd spin the wheels in 2nd coming off roundabouts. Time isn't kind to them though.

    You could remap it too.

    If it is a 125bhp engine then you would have to swap the gearbox too as the 125bhp is mated to a 6 speed box. Seems like an awful lot of effort and expensive for a very little gain to me.

    As Colm suggested, a remap will be the cheapest option.

    cheers lads, but isnt there something about those avensis's with ecu's (dont qoute me on this) but doesnt one have a bosch ecu and the other a denso (one can be remapped an the other one is a plug an play):confused:.
    if so could someone point me in the right the direction about remapping & plug and play ;).
