Was just wondering if Investing in oil would be considered a good idea and how would i go about it ?

as in terms of profitability/taxes/how much money roughly that i would need to haveto invest before i actually get serious in such a thing/what type of oil etc

it just makes sense that price/value of oil would only increase unless theres a hugh amount of oil finds :/ ? ..eg a big oil spill from a ship in the states pushes the value/price of oil up because its non renewable so therefore theres less of it

Not a total expert in investing or oil so just looking for some advice thanks

You don't invest in commodities, you speculate.

If you want to invest buy the companies that extract the commodities.

    Check out BP.

They pay a healthy divident annually and have dropped about 25%in the past 8 weeks. If you can afford to sit on the shares for a while you might do well.

One of my mates works for tullow oil, always on about buying their shares if possible. Now i have no idea about investing but they seem to be a serious outfit

I use to always recommend them to people, haven't followed them in a good while though.

I was watching "Bang Goes The Theory" the other day and one of the Topics was a potential Global Shortage of Helium, it actually has some serious uses, MRI machines for one.

It may be something worth looking into.
