I'm 17 years old male, and I can't help but often enough feel jealous of my friends. Many of them have girlfriends and have/have had sex, yet I'm still a virgin. Are these feelings of jealousy, sometimes even bordering on resentment, normal?

It can sometimes seem as though everyone is at it and it's easy to feel a little behind or left out. It's completely normal to feel jealous of friends from time to time but you need to think about exactly what is making you so green-eyed. Do you crave the companionship of a relationship or do you just want to lose the "virgin" status?

It's important to remember that, in this country, the vast majority of people don't lose their virginity till they're older than you are now. It's also worth keeping in mind that your friends are probably exaggerating a little when bragging about their sexual exploits so I'd take anything they say with a pinch of salt. :P

It's perfectly normal to feel the way you do.

Try and not to let it get in the way of you enjoying/living your life.

As the other poster said, don't always believe everything other lads say.

It's totally normal to feel that way but also remember that teenage blokes in particular have a nac of exaggerating so their lives might not be as exciting as they make out. Enjoy being young and single :)

I want both the companionship and the sex, i want to feel loved and like people like me and care about me, which i dont always feel. sometimes i just feel so lonely, and these feelings of jealousy only enforce the lonliness.

Ah, we all get a touch of the green-eyed monster when our friends have something that we wish we had. The trick though is not to concern yourself too much with what other people have. Not just in love but in life in general, there will always be people you know who seem to be far more successful than you are. Accept that, realise you can't control what they do and look after your own patch.

You are only 17 years of age and probably still in school. You've still got your whole life ahead of you. There's plenty of time for you to make friends and have a girlfriend. To be sure, some guys find it easier to make friends and to get girls than others but that does not mean that you're a hopeless case. You sound a bit lonely so I think that's what you need to work on. Getting to meet more people. When you leave school, you'll be meeting all sorts of new people anyway.

There's a vicious circle. The more desperate you appear to women, the more you will scare them off. So solve your other problem, become more confident and this one will solve itself :)
