Tablet for 12 year old

Hi I was wondering could someone suggest a tablet pc for my 12 year old son...I have been reading the other posts and still don't know what to choose, its for xmas dont want to spend a fortune but don't want a piece of crap either thanks in advance

Anybody of any age, but particularly the young, the old, or the PC novice, I always suggest the iPad. Apple has invested millions of dollars into it's interface, and patented the hell out of most of it, for a good reason. I've seen children that aren't even tall enough to reach for the thing off the display table be handed it, and within 5 minutes they've figured out more than most adults. They'll be playing music, playing a game, and switching in and out of apps like it was second nature. It's something to watch, actually. I find it highly amusing and interesting. I even had a customer tonight tell me her pre-schooler, not even 18 months old, they are being given access to iPads and apps that teach children how to repeat the names of letters and all sorts of thing like that. Not to mention all the things you can do with them that is useful or fun to any full sized adult. They're extremely versatile.

For a 12 year old? Contrary to being crap, it will make them crap their pants. An awesome buy.

I'd go with the Samsung Galaxy.

I presume you are looking at the lesser expensive versions, as iPad's are very expensive.

You don't want a cheap, cr@p one, but want one at a decent price etc..
Samsung Galaxy tab 7.0 is 7 inches, and great price for what is in it.

Samsung Galaxy 10.1 is cheaper then the iPad, and is faster, supports Flash, lighter, more robust, and has Android, which is fast becoming the chosen OS for tablets, as it supports open source and multi platforms..

But there are plenty more tablets going to hit cheaper market prices before Christmas.. I'd wait a month. At least. Then repost this question, as i believe there are going to be many tablets reduced in price coming up to Christmas. Some will want to hit their targets early, hoping that people will be avoiding the rush. I just think that right now, is a bit too early.

Basically, if you can wait a month or so, i think there will be better offers to be had, suitable for a 12 - 99 year old.

Hanspree Hanspad. 200 euro. Top end piece of kit for the money IMO. Dual core. Runs android. Honeycomb available for it. Good resolution. Plays back high def video files. Google marketplace etc. Basically it's very close to the iPad at half the price.
