I am seeing alot of shops putting ads in the local paper saying No more bills get rid of your sky or upc and get saorview for a once off payment of €99.99. Now im sure most people with sky or upc would not be happy gettin rid of all those stations on sky or upc in exchange for 7 ? Stations on saorview.

Well they could certainly get a Saorview STB for less than €99.99:)

I think you're missing the point. What the OP is saying is that there is some kind of campaign going on in his area which is implying that you can drop cable or satellite and go for Saorview while conveniently omitting to mention that you will lose a xxxx load of channels.

A combination of Saorview and Freesat is a viable alternative to UPC or Sky but it's unlikely that you will get that package (dish, aerial, combo receiver and installation) for €99.99.

    Technically they are right.

If you get rid of UPC/Sky and get Saorview then you won't have any monthly bills.

Getting rid of Sky one might be able to retain the dish for Freestat. So the main cost would be the combo box, depending on what gear was needed for Saorview.

By dumping Sky the OP can have Freesat at no extra cost. Switching from terrestrial analogue to Saorview can be covered by €50 with the Bush Saorview approved receiver from Argos & if the user already has a suitable (UHF) aerial.
