I know most of you are fans of atmospheric horrors in here but i'm the opposite, Well kinda. I thought session 9 was ok, Not really scary.. What else... The orphanage i thought was good but not really scary enough.

For examples of what freak me out, Anything religious more so to do with the devil or demons. Mirrors scared the sh!t out of me. Also the rite and exorcism of emily rose.

But i'm not only into religious ones. Paranormal activity is the kind of film i like i guess, Kind of Boo! jump!.. Start and middle of insidious was great freaked me out, But the end was a joke.

What i'm getting at anyway.. Can anyone recommend me some really sary sh!t to watch tonight going by what i like?

Maybe give Event Horizon a go? A solid mix of jump scares and forboding dread.... in space!

Insidious isnt half bad at all - out on dvd now.

If you like jumpy horrors you can't beat Drag Me to Hell. In saying that, it doesn't take itself too seriously and isn't filled with dread or capable of keeping you awake at night, but god it has some great jumpy bits. Worth watching it a few times to get familiar with it then showing it to your other half for the first time for lulz.

As a comedy it was utterly hilarious. I genuinely thought that it was meant to be funny but it went and took itself serious as it went on and I just left!! Rubbish.

    Baraca..I recommend The Tunnel (2011)
best "found footage" style film since paranormal activity.

some very good jumps in there.

You can download it legally for free on the internet..it was created and funded by some popular torrent download sites. And you can leave a small donation if you like..etc

    definitely worth checking out

the first half is good but it falls apart and gets silly.

jump scares are ok in moderation, there are some genuinely brilliant ones, but when they're cliched as hell (oh look at bathroom medicine cabinet with a mirror, wonder will something appear..oh there it is.) they dont work.

Exorcist III has one of the best ones ever, shat my pants it was so unexpected
when the figure with the garden shears ran out after the nurse

I really liked Insidious, sure it got a bit crap towards the end, but thats how most horrors go anyway.

I second Drag me to hell, a great film also, a mix of humor and scares.

We need more jumpy horrors, they are my fav too. I missed mirrors, thats the one with Keifer Sutherland in it isnt it? is that a jumpy one?

And Exorcist 3 too??? Need to get my horror back on! ;D

agreed it flags towards the end but i didnt want to give anything away. the 'door knocking' scene gave me the willies. suggested it as op said they liked 'paranormal activity' and its in the same vein.

oh and as for exorcist 3 - i know the scene - aaarrggh!!

+1 for Event Horizon and The Tunnel. I think I've watched Event about six or seven times now and never tire of it. That bit when
he's in the shaft still makes me leap!

The Tunnel is decent for those found footage flicks. Just remembering one scene that scared the bejaysus out of me. They're in
a room and can just see the eyes of the "monster" approaching them.

Also agree with previous posters that said Insidious was crap. In my opinion, it was. It had promise, but half way through just chucked it all out the window with some terrible sequence that involved smoke machines and the demon sharpening its claws. It was that exact moment I gave up on it. I really wish they never revealed the monster. The best horrors do that.

Yeah it's the US way though with remakes. I still prefer the original. Same goes for The Ring films.

+1. The sequel was a wee bit of a let down, but still enjoyable.

Just watched 'The Tunnel' - creepy as hell. Takes a while to get going but the time is well spent on character development. Very well acted as too. I'll have the night light on tonight!

Other suggestions - Amityville Horror 2 the possession - cheesy 80's fun, Dawn of the dead remake - for the opening 20mins alone, and if you're into the religious themes ' the last exorcist' is worth a look - just my opinions.

    Just for horror fans:)

I remember Pulse having a few decent jumpy moments. Not the best movie ever but has it's moments.

cool cheers for the suggestions... will definitely check out the last exorcist/exorcism of emily rose?? haven't seen it and have seen it mentioned many times in the last few days.
glad you enjoyed the tunnel btw.. not ground breaking but far superior to Trollhunter & Apollo 18

the scene in the tunnel when
the flashlight goes dead for 2 mins..i was literally hiding under the covers like a 4yr old lol

Thought the original was better. Although Asians don't do jump scares.
