Video gamers might not be able to lead Turkish football teams to victory in FIFA 2012 because a deal between Turkey's football authority and top football-game producers was ended days before the match-fixing scandal erupted.

The Turkish Football Federation, or TFF, ended the practice of dealing with video game producers on behalf of all teams in Turkish league, a report on daily Habertürk's website revealed Friday.

It was the newly elected TFF chairman Mehmet Ali Aydınlar's first act in office to sack the practice, the report said, refusing to deal with video game producers EA Sports and Konami, the companies behind the two most popular football video games, FIFA and Pro-evolution Soccer, or PES.

Game producers will have to sign separate agreements with all 18 teams of the Turkish league from now on to incorporate them into their games.

The release date for FIFA 2012 is Sept. 27. It looks difficult for EA Sports to chase and strike deals with 18 separate teams, according to sources close to the gaming industry. "It will be difficult for the Turkish first division to appear in FIFA 2012," a source said, pointing out that the match-fixing allegations and rumors of Fenerbahçe being relegated to the lower division makes everything much more complicated.

Virtual Champions League at stake as well

Turkish teams that qualified for the Champions League were set to take part in PES 2012, which will be released in November.

TFF's decision on July 15 on the match-fixing allegations will show whether Fenerbahçe and Trabzonspor will take part in Konami's PES 2012.

A source said Konami might go ahead and release the game with Fenerbahçe in the Champions League. If Fenerbahçe is found guilty of match-fixing and loses its right to participate in the league, then Konami might release a patch that, when installed, will remove Fenerbahçe from the video game.

Galatasaray are in the Rest of the World section but that's it
