Elevation Programme - Diary of Professional Developement

    Hi,

I'm finalising my application for the Elevation Programme, all set to register for the CAP 2 classes.

However I am having reservations now after looking into the requirement for mantaining Diary of Professional Developement. It looks like a lot of effort needs to go into this alone in mantaining a diary and having to submit to a workplace mentor to review and sign off.

I am working in funds for the last 4 years, having moved from an accountancy practise where i worked for a year, passed my Cap 1's (Prof 2) but didnt mantain the CA diary at the time. I have spoke to the Institute and they say they willl assist me in terms of providing me access to the website to update the diary but they say I must contact my old boss myself and get any records they have from my time. I havent kept contact with my old boss in this practise and not sure I want to go to hassle of contacting them now and having to dig up old time sheets etc.

Is there anyone thats been in the same situation? or have any advice?

Thanks, would really appreciate any help

    Hi,

I have had this problem myself recently having left my practise after 1.5 years. However, only a few months had passed so it was relatively easy for me to contact my old mentor but I was still a little apprehensive about doing it.
I was unable to register as an Elevation Student until I got my old CA Diary entries updated and locked so unfortunately there was no way around it, unless you can start from scratch but this would mean having to do an extra year of work before you qualify providing you pass all exams etc. Also, from a practical point of view I'm sure you can barely remember what you did given that it was four years ago.

But if you are able to get the diary updated I think you should do this as it is a total waste if you cannot claim credit for a full year of experience just because you don't want to contact your old boss. I'm sure if you explain the situation they will agree to help you, they may even offer you your old gig back......

Thanks a mill for that reply, very helpful.

Ye it would be a shame alright for me to miss out on getting that year updated in the CA diary.
I will contact my old manager on Monday and see what can be done. Hopefully will be some old time sheets etc that i can use.

Hope the programme has gone well for you:)
