iPad Questions

I'm in the market for a tablet and was thinking of getting an Android tablet but I don't think they're quite there yet. I have a few requirements that I'm not sure the iPad could meet (haven't been able to confirm this myself, hoping people here will know the answers). I need to be able to:

Listen to music using google music. As far as I can tell this is possible through the browser, how well does it work? I've no interest in storing music on the device.

Watch divx/xvid videos. I am not going to spend time converting my entire video collection to some Apple codec, there's a video player for this after jailbreaking I think?

Stream videos from a linux box. This is a big one, I store all my media on a linux nas box. On my phone I can browse to the box using a file explorer, click on the video file I want and then select play... it will start streaming without fuss. Is something like this possible with the iPad?

Transfer files wirelessly. Can I use a file explorer to browse other computers on my home network and copy and paste files to the iPad?

View flash sites. I use flash sites like liveonlinefooty.com to watch football, is there a browser I can get that supports flash without much fuss?

I realise pretty much all of that will involve jailbreaking, which I'm more than willing to do.

Not sure about google music, but will find out for you

yes to divx and nas, both using a program called oplayer which is available on the app store

wireless transfer is a yes too via openssh but this is a jailbreak app

yes to liveonlinefooty.com using cloudbrowser again available on the app store.

if you do jailbreak, you should try xbmc which allows you to download plug in's, stream and playback from rared content. One of the plugin's is called sports devil and give you access to pretty much any online sport stream available.

It's a great product, but personally if it wasn't jailbroken it would be very limited and I would not use.

There currently no jailbreak available for an iPad that would be bought today so you will have to wait for the dev team to do there thing come oct 4th.

    hope this helps.
