Algae feeders in with Goldfish?

    Hi,

I have two Goldfish in a smallish tank.

I was in the petshop recently and noticed these very small 'Algae feeders' that were just zipping around eating bits from the side of the shops tank.

Would it be safe for me to get two of these and add them in with the Goldfish or would they be picked on or attacked by the Goldfish?

Is there any hygenic benefit of adding these fish into my tank?

    Thanks.

Do you know what species they were, some get very large, and you'd need to make sure that they didn't need a different temperature to the goldies. How big is your tank?

If the goldfish are already in a small tank, I wouldn't add any more fish.

Depending on the breed of algae eaters, some of them grow very large, and wouldn't be suitable for a small tank. Neither are goldfish, but that's a whole other thing.

No hygienic benefit really, because whatever algae they do remove the benefit will be cancelled out by the increased bioload in the tank.
