It's like one of those cars that they predicted what cars would look like in 2011... Back in the 80's!

I like them in the flesh. In fairness it looks far better than most of the square offerings from VAG and the pretenders wanting to be a VAG

I'd buy it, peel off the Chrysler badge and stick LANCIA back where it belongs.

It's a stretched version of the Fiat 500 platform, the same one as under the new Panda

Yeah I was gonna say something along the lines of that in my OP. I can't imagine the Irish taking to this very well, although, that being said... The word "fools" was mentioned...

That's a separate model altogether which we're getting also.

I think that image posted of the Ypsilon is a bit unflattering. It can look quite elegant in some photos.

It's funny, the lancia thesus, phedra, ypsilon etc. look great in Italy, the same way as the current seat ibiza looks great in Spain.
For whatever reason the design doesn't travel too well and you'd look like a right idiot in one.
That whole idea of 2 brands is ridiculous too.

A like of Volvos an now a like for the Ypsilon...

Explains it all, you lack in eye sight :p:pac:

It's just another car for the Irish to try and sell and spell/pronounce the name miserably.

Either you've been living under a rock for the last eighteen-twenty years (which I'm guessing has been your whole life) or you just need to broaden your outlook on cars.

Did anyone check out Chrysler's extensive Irish dealer network? Looks like the country will be awash with Chrysler's soon

    Clareview - Limerick
    TP Waters - Kildare
    Rathdown - Dublin
    Alasta - Dublin
    McGuigans - Castleblaney

Lack of dealers, coupled with unknown/poor brand perception.....might scrape double digit sales figures for 2012?

To me, even in Italy the things look awful. Was in Rome recently and saw many government cars tearing around with escorts - there was a 50/50 split between BMWs and high end Lancias. I just couldn't find the guys in the lancias credible at all! (And I'm no roundel licker!)

Rathdown are only a service dealer now.

They should be appointing more dealers in the coming months; probably those with existing FIAT franchises.

It would look a whole lot better with a black rub strip and rear door handle to break up that slabby expanse of white.

Modern Lancia's look a lot better in darker rather than lighter colours. It tones down some of the awkward styling. I do not like much (any) chrome trim on cars, but on a dark colour it works well. A rich burgundy red (maroon) or sophisticated blue or grey colour, would complement Lancia/Chrysler's more individual design and lighting features.

Agree totally. I live here in Italy and every Lancia still looks gick.

Ditto on cars looking different when you're on the continent.

Face it, we live in bogtrotter land - and we drive bogtrotter cars.

Thesis, that's the one the guys with police outriders were in! (I think I'll avoid using the term escorts in the same sentence as Italian politicians..). It looks like a bad copy of a Hyundai Sonata to me...

Much comfier though and very plush! I'm sure the godfathers would prefer it to a Sonata.

Didn't see any black ones, I see what a previous poster meant about darker colours being better now. The one in the link is tasty actually, the light grey/blue and "metallic beige" ones are awful looking tho...

Gorgeous, beautiful car, nobody but nobody does tan leather interiors better than the Italians.

Ha, I'll never use those words in one sentence again. Gross and the Blue Waffle was fairly nasty too.
