iPad - ios update?

So I synced and backed up my iPad tonight. I transferred my purchased content to iTunes and now I want to update my iOS to the latest available version.

Only thing is that right after transferring my purchased content, when I click on the update button it tells me that there is purchased content that hasn't been updated.

I can see my apps in the 'purchased' section of my iTunes library. Any idea what could be causing this message to appear?

Never seen that message myself; if it appears tat they are all in itunes, id go ahead. Take note of your purchased apps, and if any are missing, just download again from the app store free. Itll know if you have previously purchased therefor you cannot be double charged.

Just out of interest, why you updating now? Ios5 is only around the corner, likely 12th oct?

Well my experience with updating other systems is that it causes less problems if you update from the immediately preceding OS than if you 'skip' a version. This may make no difference in iOS but I'd rather not be the first to report that there's a bug that renders your iPad inoperable if you update from an older version :pac:

I have gotten that notice since day 1 between my iPad and laptop. If you are sure that all of your apps/content is visible in iTunes (check the last thing you bought) then work away. I've never had any issue.

If you click on file in iTunes there should be an option to transfer purchased item across that should sort it!

@tallpaul, cheers, glad to see it's not just me :)

That's the problem I'm having and it's exactly what I've done. However, when I do that and the transfer is complete, when I then try to update the OS it tells me that there is purchased content that I haven't transferred...yet I've just done the damn transfer and it reported successful transfer...

I'm not sure if it's with my iPhone or my iPad, but I get this error message as well when updating the OS. I just ignore it and go ahead with the update. It's only music or films purchased on the device that you need to be concerned about.
