We've had a lot of threads recently which start with some kind of assertion of fact backed up by nothing more than "my mate told me" or "I heard it on the news".

People are using these threads to make entirely unfounded claims, and then defend them without ever providing a source other than someone who can't be named.

This isn't consistent with the quality we expect of threads, so you can expect sanctions if you do it.
