Bought a car last month. Dealer still hasn't sent in the VRC, despite being chased numerous times.

I've emailed the motor tax office asking what to do but heard nothing back from them either yet.

Any ideas what I should do?

Did you actually see the cert when you bought the car?

Contact depatrment of transport in Shannon directly.
Explain the situation and they will probably be able to help.
I think there is some kind of form on which you state that car is yours, post it and they will issue registration cert on your name.

Contacting motor tax office is nonsense, as they are usually useless.

The email went to motortax@transport.ie. I'll try through the Dept. website as well.

    Many thanks

That may indeed be the case, but to be fair to them, vehicle registration is not their remit.

Go through a barrier free toll gate a couple of times and you'll find the previous owner won't be long sending off the cert.
