Extending sms on HTC Sensation

Sending a long winded text to my friend today on my new HTC Sensation and noticed that when you reach 765 characters the next keystroke brings up a message "converting to mms message" - is there any way to extend the sms messages so I can send a longer message? - I don't have mms messages included in my monthly plan.

I think some of the messaging apps (handcent, go etc.) have this feature.
Download them (they're free) and have a looksie.

Just had a look at handcent and it's in Settings > Send message settings > Auto Convert to MMS.
It says Automatically convert to MMs when length exceeds 3 messages.

That what you were looking for ?

Im actually trying to do the opposite!! Im trying to extend the sms so it won't lapse in to mms when it goes over the 765 characters.

Send multiple SMS messages?
I think SMS can only be a certain amount of characters before theyre either split or converted to MMS with the data amount.
