I received an (Gibson) Epiphone for my 18th Birthday (Ten years ago) and have no idea how much its worth when it was made, what model is it!

What makes me so curious is that this Guitar has the "Gibson" word on its profile. Also it has what looks like an offical steel badge holding the arm on to its body with the serial number and Epiphone insignia with the Tennesse address, but also says hand crafted in Korea, i am aware that Ephiphone moved its factory to Korea in the 90's.

I havent seen any other Epiphone Les Paul like my model.

Where do i go to find out what model it is and why is it so different to other models out there???

I think a picture would go a long way into helping identifying the exact model.

I wouldn't be expecting it to be worth much at all really; A lot of Epiphones of that generation had the Gibson trussrod covers, and more.

I have a entry level acoustic which has the gibson trussrod cover on it.

Most of the korean LP copies from Epiphone from that era have the Gibson truss rod cover.
you can run that serial number by this :
    http://guitardaterproject.org/epiphone.aspx
...see if it can give you any information.

With a bolt on neck you're probably looking at an LP-100 or LP300. I'd guess it's a 300, the top looks too nice to be a 100. With those tuners and top I guess it could be a plus top or ltd? No idea if they did "special" 300s. In the hierarchy of Les Pauls, the 100 and 300 are in the same bracket as (but higher than) the Special and Special II - they're not the "real deal" because of the bolt on neck, but at least they have the full compliment of controls unlike the specials. The 300 is therefore the high end of the low end :)

No idea what they cost new, got an Lp100 lefty in the states in '95 for something like $300 but that was with no attempt to haggle and no market research so I probably paid over the odds.

I was reading this part and really confused. I thought it had a bigsby based on what you were saying. That metal plate is the neck plate. It's standard on most bolt-on guitars. Unfortunately in your case bolt-on Les Pauls generally command less money. I'm not saying it's a bad guitar, it looks nice. I think your price is a bit off but that's just my opinion.

Strange to see a LP with bolt on neck these days. The Greco LP's from 1970's were the same. But you never know, maybe in 20 years it might be worth more with some Ebay sellers. ;)

Thanks for all the comments, i think its A Les Paul Paul Standard 300, i've look at most of the models and cant see anything closer other than the 300.

Like my wife, the OP refers to the neck of the guitar as the "arm"...... :D

I worked in Waltons for a long long time and they were and still are the main distributor for Gibson and epiphone in Ireland . I am out of there quite a few years now however at the time i was there epiphones were manufactured with a 3 bolt neck and Gibsons with a 4 bolt . This was to stop people buying Gibson les paul necks and putting them on epiphone les paul bodies . To my knowledge this is still company policy but it may have changed , I am confused looking at the pictures because yours is a 4 bolt neck  what throws me also is the truss rod cover with the Gibson logo because they also did the same with that (ie) an epiphone cover definatly does not have "Gibson" on it, 99% of the time it will say epiphone and one from a Gibson les paul will not fit an epiphone les paul because the holes are in different positions.

I would suggest bringing this into Waltons and getting the lads to give it the once over or email them some pics . They should be able to give you a price nearer to what its worth , good luck .

I don't work for Waltons but I did once buy my dad a kazoo there. The 4 bolt neck and (3-pin) Gibson-branded truss rod cover are fairly standard for nineties korean Epiphone Les Pauls, at least the ones from Unsung and Saein used 'em to my knowledge. Not sure when the switch came to Epiphone / Les Paul branded TRCs, definitely when they started moving into China anyway.

I'd agree the price is a bit off, even with the upgraded pickups you're still 75-100 euro over what it's worth. Having said that, only the opinion of someone who's actually looking to buy really matters, eh? Best of luck
