Bottom line is the Casio is the best bang for buck

" I've researched seriously many high speed camera, for a low budget. The bottom line is, there's nothing other than the Exilim EX-F1 for the average consumer. It's really cheap, compared to "real" high speed cameras.

The problem is, in between the Casio and the lower end model of "real" high speed, there's nothing. It's either 1grand (ex-f1) or 10 grands and over. And even at 10 grands, the specs aren't worth it to pick them over the Casio, the best I found was the Phantom series available for 9,9K$ from their site. It can do up to 640X480 at 500fps max. So for that price and specs, I'd rather stick to a 1200fps with a tiny resolution.

However if you have a budget, first you probably aren't reading here, and secondly there's more bang for the buck in the higher prices ranger. From this price range, you have to ask the companies for a quote. Very rarely you will find a number as a price tag. Again, for a better specs-price ratio, you are looking at over 30,000$ cameras.

Bottom line for me, the average research & developpement @ home scientist, I will go with a Casio Exilimi EX-F1. When I will have a real _need_ for better speeds/resolution, I will only get something from over 30,000$, if it fits my need."

    Hi Guys,
Im looking to purchase a Casio High speed camera for a project.
    Something similiar to this
    http://www.ebay.co.uk/ctg/Casio-High-Speed-EXILIM-EX-FH100-10-1-MP-Digital-Camera-Silver-/100162917?LH_ItemCondition=1000&_pcategid=31388&_pcatid=782&_refkw=EX-FH100#

The particular model seems to be hard to come by though.

Does anyone have any other recommendations? The brand doesnt really matter, but it does need to be able to capture at 210frames per sec or maybe more.
It doesnt have to be the best camera in the world as long as its pretty good at high speed stuff. Its for sports analysis

Also as cheap as possible :)
    Under 100euro would be sweet!!

    Thanks!!

No disrespect intended to you but thats like asking if anyone knows where I can get a good car that wont break down in exchange for a packet of sweets.

if you want quality optics and a super fast frame count you need to pay money, you will be unlikely to find this for under €1000 nevermind under €100, there was one of the casio exilim cameras on Adverts a few weeks ago I think the seller was asking around €600ish (I cant remember for definite)

best you could do for under €100 would be to rent a camera for a few days - try Conns cameras in Dublin (but you will need to leave a deposit too) ...I have looked at your link and to be fair to the seller - I would remind you that the casio on sale is an older model and seller is in Taiwan - so you will more than likely be paying import tax/vat on top of the price of the camera and postage.

If I'm not mistaken (and I may well be), the OP linked to a £105.40 camera that does what he wants but is hard to get, and asked "is there anything else like this out there?"

Not an unreasonable question, even if the answer is no.

I added a piece at the end of my message about the advert linked - the camera is an older model and liable for import tax and vat - the best alternative I would suggest was if the OP could rent one from Conns.

I was in no way intent on ridiculing the OP, my statement was said simply because the request looking for pro spec equipment for less than €100 is akin to looking for a decent car for something of little value - if you want pro spec you need to pay money.

I paid €4500 for one of my cameras and it takes 10frames per second....I was looking at one of the casio exilims a few months back and decided it was too gimicky for my usage - I would never get any proper usage from it.

oh as for the "hard to get" .... click "buy it now" pay the amount and its yours ...not really "hard to get" is it ?

    Ah thanks Pcphoto.
    I do appreciate your input.

High FPS camera's can be had for 100 to 200 euro though and thats why i asked on here for either a good link for the casio or a good alternative.

I had read that blurb from the instructables too - thanks Borderfox!

What about the other Casio cameras? ZR100, ZR10, or the Canon IXUS 220 HS...it's only about 150 quid and shoots at 120fps or 240fps
