    No, that's right!

B is cars, and W is work vehicles (tractors, etc.)

When you do your theory test, you did a B/W theory test, and your learner permit is categories B and W, and so is your full licence. You get W automatically with B (but not necessarily the other way around - 16 year olds can get a W learner permit without having a B learner permit, because the minimum age for W is 16, and B is 17).

    Congrats on passing the test!

Haha, if I got a licence with an extra category on it that I wasn't entitled to, I wouldn't have been looking to replace it :p

Have a look at this page: http://www.citizensinformation.ie/en/travel_and_recreation/motoring_1/driver_licensing/categories_of_motor_vehicles_and_minimum_age_of_drivers_in_ireland.html

It describes exactly what each category is! Both for 'normal' usage, B is cars. If you want to drive with large trailers (>750kg, like a caravan, or a horse-box) you will need to do another test, for your EB licence. It's worth noting that years ago you'd get the entitlement to drive large trailers automatically when you passed your test, but in the last few years you need to do a separate test. So if you look at people who have had their full licence for years, it may look like they have an extra category.

Edit: I should note that the EB test is very rare. Most people with category EB either got it automatically with B like I said above, or got EB and EC1 by doing the EC test - it's all quite complicated :P
