Difficulties watching videos/playing music on Samsung Galaxy S

    Hi all.
I'm wondering has anyone else experienced this particular problem with your Samsung Galaxy S. Basically, sometimes (random times too) for some reason when I try to look at videos on Youtube or some other video sharing site, the error message 'Sorry, the video cannot be played.' comes up. At the same time as this, if I try to play music, it skips every song saying that there is an audio error. It also will not stream content from my Newstalk/RTE Radio/Today FM/Stitcher apps at this time, keeps trying to buffer and reconnect. It's very peculiar in that it affects audio and video files.

Then two hours later, without me doing anything,it will work fine, no problems, all of the above working great.

It is not an issue with coverage. I have full 3G coverage in my home and it doesn't seem to be a location problem. It's really starting to annoy me as it makes Youtube on the phone largely redundant which is a real shame and also prevents me from streaming radio.

Anyone got any simple, not too technical trouble shooting solutions? All help appreciated.

On mobile 3g having a full signal does not guarantee you have a connection.

Ok,point taken PMT, but why should my music files be affected by this?
Its very strange. Just tried playing a song there. 'Sorry, the player does not support this type of audio file.' is the error message I'm getting. Just keeps skipping to the next song and the next

Which is garbage because it worked all the time previous to this.

It's a great phone when its working fine but these problems are seriously starting to annoy me at this stage.

Mobile network problems it sounds like. Do you have same problems when using wifi? With good wifi signal?

Note certain networks (*cough* 3) sometimes have no network connectivity even tho they show as connected.

I don't really use wi-fi all that much, just tether the phone with my laptop.
It's incredibly frustrating because it's a daily occurrence now. I have the phone over a year, I'm not overly sure I'm going to get any assistance on this if I go to my friendly local 3 store!

Whatever about network issues, why are my music files/radio streaming apps affected?

You're going to have to give us more info
What player? what type of music file? where is the music stored?

The beauty of Android is that it's customisable, you can go to the market and get a better player.

Try toggling airplane mode on and off. If your internet magically starts working then -> this is why I ragequit from 3 :)

It's just the regular music player that came with the phone. I transferred music onto the phone as well as having some music on my memory card from my old phone. I had and do have sometimes access to all these files.

It won't play any .mp3, .org, .mp4 or indeed any file type at present.
Is it something to do with the memory card? Apologies for being so vague but I'm a bit clueless about these things. Itry to decipher some of the post up on here about Froyo and darky and gingerbread and ROM's and all this craic but it goes waaaaaaaaaaay over my head!

That sounds very strange. Some androids won't play WMA, but it should play mp3 fine. Is your sdcard corrupted?

Pick an mp3 file on your PC, make sure it plays ok. Then copy this to phones internal memory, it should play. If not then try a factory reset?

NOTE: When you are copying files onto phone, do not use any fancy programs like windows media player or itunes. These might transcode the files into a different format.
Do it the "normal" way (may differ slightly depending on model but almost the same):
Plug cable from pc into phone
    Notice "usb connected" notification.
Pull down notification bar, click on the usb connected.
Now you have a dialog saying "mount sdcard" or "cancel".
    Select mount sdcard.
Notice a new drive appears on your PC, maybe even two drives (one for sdcard, one for internal memory).
Copy files onto the new drive just as you would copy any file.
Now click unmount usb on phone once finished.
