Zizek on Lacan

I'm trying to bone up on Lacan -I have two Zizek books on Lacan.

And I would like to get a discussion going. I'm not sure how much is Zizek and how much is Lacan. I've always had the feeling about Zizek, that he has used Lacanianism as spring board for his own ideas. Using his Lacan as a sceptre - of priestly power.

I would like to get this discussion going. Specifically, for me to get a concrete grip on Lacan's central ideas - on reality ---- or more specifically, how Lacan breaks down "reality".

Good luck with that;), Lacan's work is quite difficult to get a grip on. I have been studying/reading Lacan since 97 so I'm up for a discussion; however, I want to state that I still have a lot to learn. You have to remember Lacan's aim was to provoke discussion on his work rather than giving clear cut concepts. Can I ask are you studying Lacan and if so where.

When you say "breaks down reality" are you referring to the real, the imaginary and the symbolic? Have you got Evan's Lacanian Dictionary, it can be helpful in tracing the development of Lacan's thoughts, it's like reading Freud in that with Freud you end up looking at the development of various concepts throughout the standard edition, with Lacan you end up tracing those concepts throughout the various seminars.

So where would you like to start?
