    Hey guys :)

Just wondering, what kind of presents would you buy for an anniversary/birthday for your other half?

Is it just me or are guys really hard to buy for! Do you ever feel that you just can't get it exactly right? WHAT DO THEY WANT?! haha :P

My boyfriends birthday is coming up, he's dropped hints about a rugby jersey (really expensive and he has loads already!), an xbox game (can't even remember the name of it ) and a few other things. I was thinking of getting him a watch as the one he has is kinda worn and he's pointed out a few he likes but is it a bit boring? I was also thinking of maybe a night at a hotel for the 2 of us but I can't really afford it :(

What presents have you gotten for your OH in the past??

I get him things for his vintage car, a spice kit for dips and popcorn which he loves, Wii games, funny hoodies and t shirts, a trip to the birds of prey centre in the Burren to fly a hawk (which he still goes on about 3 years later!), dvd's, a photo collage thing of us...that's all I can think of right now but I try really hard to think outside the usual stuff, he doesn't need clothes bought for him and has every computer game and dvd ever made!!

Cigars/whiskey/aftershave/really really hard to find documentaries/films he has his eye on/tickets to stuff he bangs on about.
Last week I looked all over town for a particular U.S. publication he was after..didn't find it of course and was crippled at the end, but it's the thought right? :pac:

Is there anything obscure he's mentioned in passing?
Do you get on well with his friends? If you do it may be worth a chat. If you explain you want it to be a surprise they'll keep quiet!

Why don't you get him the game he asked for? Or one of the watches he himself pointed out that he liked?

Really don't see why you're finding it difficult to buy something for him to be perfectly honest considering he's told you :pac:.

This time of year most of the big xbox games get released.
Have a look at the games he has and if he has gears of 2 then get him gears of war 3 it's just came out.

OP if your thinking of a few nights away in a hotel keep an eye on boardsdeals and other groupon sites- there's always hotel deals on them :D

Every year I paint my OH a painting of him as a character from his favourite games or tv shows for his birthday. Add that with a few games, boxsets, hoodies and nerdy toys and he's happy :)

OP, he's told you a number of things he wants - rugby jersey, game, watch. You might think he has too many, or the gift is boring, but he has told you what he wants. Maybe he gave you those hints so you'd get him some of the things he wanted?

OP, your choice is either get him what he wants, or get him what you want.

You already know what he wants. Go for it, its HIS birthday after all :)

I've given a rowing machine, digital camera, hotel breaks, portable Playstation as well as smaller gifts such as Family Guy boxsets, album collections, Converse trainers and gym gear.

I think it's really important to know what makes your partner happy and I see your choice of gift for them as a reflection of that understanding

Just like girls, guys are very easy to buy for....

All you have to do is listen to them....

    And buy what they want/like....

    Not what you want/like....

    Simples....

    Better here OP

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

It sounds like you want to get him something that he hasn't thought of, or doesn't know he needs/wants.This can be really hard to do, unless you have a really good idea already - and you don't.

So, if he mentioned a computer game, try to remember what it was. Maybe google the top 10 games just released, and mention one of them to him to get a discussion going. And then pay attention! Or ask his friends for a recommendation.

Personally, I usually buy music gear - I never know what it is for, but hubby DJ's, so I just pay attention when he talks about new 'wishful thinking' gear. Or I make him something :)

Just get him the rugby jersey he's hinting at. Then do something like cook him his favourite meal and / or arrange a surprise meet up of friends in a pub that you dont normally go to. :)

Edit. Just saw that this was aimed at the ladies. I'm a bloke. Hope it helps though.
