Well tomorow is my fave feast day of the year apart from christmas and easter,

this feast day is really St.michael's own feast day known as michaelmass in old englad where it basically wound up the harvest season and traditionally english country families sat down to roast goose dinner to celebrate end of harvest. St.Michael also had may 8th as his other feast day - the "prince of Paradise" Defender of the faith, defender of christians, guardian of the eucharist, guardian of purgatory and deliverer of souls in purgatory, head of the Angels, loyal servant of God...

thats a heck of a cv eh?,,, well guess what ...
I will go to mass tommorow morning as i do every year and celebrate the day (its the 10th anniversary of my daughters baptizm aswell), and guess what... when at mass i guarentee there MAY only be a passing referance to the greatness of ST.Michael and his position in heaven being above all others apart from our lady and the holy trinity... is the same every year hardly a word ever... and then we wonder why the church is attacked day and night by its enemies.. clergy and the lay have forgotten that free will means we must pray/ask for st.michaels defence of the faith otherwise we have nooo way of fighting back against onslaught, even tho SOME of the attacks are warrented... we know behind it all is God's ol foe and Michaels adversary ol' hornhead himself.

anyone else doing anything special for St.Michael's day??

    happy 29th people ;)

    St.Michaels Chaplet.

Thats the thing most of the clergy are just ''working'' not praying and see their position as a ''job'' rather than a vocation. Most of them really cant be arsed with the faith to be honest. Only few really care.

I know what you mean Onesimus but I don't agree. I think most do care. They are busy working away quietly.

WOAH, thats some statement! I found the opposite to be true, it takes someone of very, very, profoundly deep faith to become a priest! Those who do are true leaders I find. The harvest is rich, but the labourers are few!

Happy St. Michael's day Archangel Michael! Please protect the church!

St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in the hour of conflict.
Be our safeguard against the wickedness and snares of the devil.
May God rebuke him we humbly pray.
And do thou O Prince of the Heavenly Host, by the Power of God,
Cast into Hell, Satan and all the evil spirits,
Who wander now throughout the world, seeking the ruin of souls.

St. Michael defender of the Church, protect us. Amen.

It is also the Jewish Feast of Trumpets (Rosh Hashanna) today. In fact it started at 6pm Israeli time (4pm Irish time) yesterday September 28th and will continue until tomorrow at 6pm Israeli time.

In the sequence of Feasts (or set times of the Lord) outlined in Leviticus 23 this is the next feast to be fulfilled by Christ. The last feast that was fulfilled was 'Pentecost' or Harvest, in fact that is still taking place and will do so until the Feast or set time of Trumpets is fulfilled.

I believe that this will be the Rapture, or the catching away of the saints, the Church, the body of Christ, that will be taken out of this earth before the wrath of God descends on it which will begin the fulfillment of the Feast of Atonement. According to the book of Daniel this time of trouble will last seven years.

Will the Rapture be today or tomorrow? Only God knows. Keep watching for His coming regardless.

    God bless.

interesting points all,,, and soul winer yes the jews always dedicate their synagouges to the Archangel... not sure if they still do, but always used to.

well as expected,, went to mass 3 priests saying mass!,, references to angels through the liturgy,,, but not one singular mention of ST.Michaels pre-eminant role on behalf of God... not a mention of his title as "prince of the church",, defender of christians etc etc.... there was a veryy good attendance and yet none of the clergy stepped forward to do a sermon on the subject... if it was our lady's feast day theyd spend ages speaking about her humility etc... all of which is goood... but dont any of them know how "big" if yu want to use a modern term ST.Michael is in heaven??

i dunno i left after mass deflated, not surprised and truly wondering do our clergy actually care anymore? moreover - is there really any point in having saints feast days?? whn the highest saint under the trinity and our lady doesnt even get a mention?? i tell ya no wonder the church is soooo weak in defending itself...

i think ST.Mike should hang up his battle gear get into a deck chair and sip a baccadi and chill for a while the people on earth have forgotten him and well he's on the heavenly dole as far as i can see...

    ciao' people

The above prayer was composed by Pope Leo XIII after at terrible vision he witnessed at the foot of the Altar after Mass on October 13th 1884.

Slow down there. Is there not a St. Micheals day / feast of the trumpets and a feast of Pentecost every year? Why do you think this one is going to be THE one?

I didn't say I thought this one is going to be the THE one. But it could be, we still have until 4pm tomorrow Irish time to find out :)

Still here, so if the Rapture took place on this year's Feats of Trumpets then I didn't go in it. Here's hoping it didn't place yet :)
