We have a 2007 15 seat Transit mini bus (14 passengers + driver) and only the one driver who isnt always around so we sent one of our staff off to get their D licence. They got the lessons in the bus, passed all their CPC exams and then went to the actual driving test. When they received the notification of the test the letter stated that the bus must be a certain length and weigh over 4 tons. Our bus is just inside the length but 3.5 tons and 2007 so they couldnt do the test coz we couldnt get a 4 ton bus. If our bus was 2004 or older at 3.5 tons they could have done the test. Seems really stupid that a bus is taxed and authorised to drive on the roads but cant be used in a test. Its cost us a fortune in lessons and cpc exams already. You can do a car test in a mini or 7 series and it doesnt matter.

Similar rules apply for C licences too. Cant remember the restrictions off hand.
