    Guys/gals

I have been demodded. Infractions and bans are the reason. Anyway, maybe someone wants to put forward their name to take over.

No, bans and infractions I received on other threads is the reason. Came out of the blue, but that's the rules it seems.

I think I should get modship, because I'm great. In fact, I think I should get two modships, in case the first one doesn't work. :p

I actually dont think we need another mod one here to be honest. Whens the last time we locked a thread, gave an infraction or haned out a ban?

On my new Irish boxing forum *cough* http://boxingireland.forumotion.co.uk/ *cough* created today *cough* We only have one mod and I dont think there is need for another.

Your lack of knowledge on rugby may be the reason Walshb and also your Eire comments :D

Was a little childish of you.... :p

You may be right; jeez, didn't think that one word would get me demodded.

I'd happily do it, but I'm not sure if there's a need.

Stupid rule, this forum is probably the best run of the ones I'm on on boards.
Either way it definitely think it needs a mod, posts get too personal here the odd time and if it was unmoderated we'd still be talking about the pac steroids crap in the Mayweather Ortiz thread

If need be I don't mind doing it, I'm not as chilled as Walshb though and spammers etc would just be banned straight off or people coming on to troll how boxing is evil etc would get quick bye byes!

If wanted it's easy gig as most on here is friendly, Walshb would probably be my 1st ban, I joke.

not the firstto chip in about the co.uk - but I've been informed that it takes them some time to swap over to our boxing-ireland.com/forum for some reason.

    Not sure why.

    Why?
Bren has won National titles in Boxing and as much as people disagree at times with him he has his reasons for his opinions..

Yeah. I am confused by that too:confused: I love boxing, and read a lot about it, so what other criteria does one need to moderate it? MMA? No, don't know near enough about it.

Anyway, I reckon the forum needs another mod. A lot of work for one to mod this forum.

I don't know how neither of you know this, seeing as you are/were long standing mods, but a strong domain knowledge of the forum you're moderating is not actually a requirement for successsfully moderating that forum, although it may help.

I would make a guess that bren is indeed probably one of the most knowledgeable and successful of the boxers on the forum but that's not really here nor there for moderating. All his posts tend to be derisive, his opinions inflammatory, he uses the enter key at the end of lines.

Not really the characteristics of a typical boards.ie moderator are they?

Again, nothing personal and I don't think there was ever a problem with moderating on this (or the mma or the ma forum) just explaining why I thought walshb was a surprising choice (completely goes against the grain for boards.ie mods) and not surprises he was eventually removed (boards.ie are not very tolerant of such personalities in positions of 'power')

That is your opinion. Show me any post that is insulting or aggressive to anyone on this forum? Sure, some posts may come across as patronising, or derisive, SOME. But, that will apply to any person or mod. We are all capable of this, moderator or not. I would say the majority of my posts are just civil and polite. And, I have written many posts promoting civilty and respect on this forum. I am well aware that it's not just a knowledge base that one needs to successfully moderate on a forum.

Yes, there has never been a mod problem here on this forum. Very little aggro. Some strong views and aggressive banter at times, but that is always to be expected with so many different people and personalities. I have always insisted on keeping it respectful and civil, always; as many of my posts will prove.

In the 4-5 years' of modding I think I may have banned two people.

I'd love to see these derisive and inflammatory posts I have posted here. Both words are quite subjective too.
To some they could be derisive or inflammatory, to others, just posts. Sensitivity plays a part in how
one interprets posts or opinions. I cannot help that, and nor can anyone esle.

Of all the regular posters here I would say I am one of the least aggressive of the lot. One of the more placid.

BTW, what do you mean when you say "he uses the enter key at the end of lines?"

And, if as you say, you don't think there was ever a problem modding here, then why are you
    surprised that I modded here?

Do my posts and views on other forums lead you to beleve that I should not be modding?

And, Paul, I would say most times folks agree with me. No poster will have all people agree with him or her all of the time. Me and you for example I would say agree on 75 percent of our posts. Maybe it's the 25 percent that stand out;)

Maybe the damage was done by Bernard Dunne? Ha. I do recall a lot of people getting very touchy
about any posts implying that Dunne wasn't their cup of tea. Not you, you always read the view
and gave a civil rebuttal. The way it should be. And, once you upest someone once, it can be very
difficult to get them back on your side. People hold that grudge.

walshb - as you should be well aware, this is not how new mods are picked.

You have 12 bans and 13 warnings and infractions to your name. Just for comparison reasons (and I assure you, I'm not intending this as some sort of thinly veiled threat), we site ban people for less. We don't actually have any specific issue with your moderation here, but we cannot in good conscience stand over your track record across the rest of the site and say "this is a person who's judgement we trust."

To the Boxing Forum community, I'm sorry we've had to sweep in and take this action, but we expect mods to at least not make life difficult for each other and to be well aware of what is and isn't acceptible on this site and walshb's track record does not reflect that. It also gives the numpties who come to this site to do nothing but cause trouble more poo to fling at us when they can say "HERE'S A MOD WHO'S DOING IT TO, WHY HAVE YOU BANNED ME!!?!?!" and tbh, we have enough of that sort of nonsense to be dealing with as is - you should see some of the stuff I get emailed.

We will be picking a new mod as soon as we can.

I'm closing this thread now as it's served it's purpose.

    Thank you for your time.
