Stable (albeit low paid) job down-country. OK lifestyle, getting worse by the day due to taxes etc etc (who isn't), over-riding issue is NO PENSION and getting older..

Potential jobs in Dublin / UK interviews lining up, contracting mainly but I would need to commute and stay over.

Not averse to doing this but getting nervous, am I doing the right thing? I'd prefer UK to secure against possible issues with the Euro and the rates are higher, I've also got a place to stay.

Big issue is I have family here, a life here. Life quality is excellent, leaving aside the $$$$ :o but:

    a) Bored rigid, been here +7 years, co recently more than p1ssed me off..
    b) getting older, need more $$ / pension
    c) got potential to earn a lot more.
    d) gotta get a pension sorted, no chance here...

But young family, easy life, permie here....

    Would you go ??

    FBP.

As far as I can see you've answered your own question there!
Quality of life is everything, money isnt!

I know, quality of life but its degrading and getting worse in terms of being constantly overdrawn the overdraft limit (halfway thru the month sometimes), this itself adds pressure and its only gonna get worse..

Its good to think "ahh sunshine" on a day like this but the potential to earn better $$ by living away during the week and give the family a bit of breathing room is hard to ignore....

If you are on low pay and have a young family you may qualify for family income supplement... the waiting period for it is about 5 months but if you qualify it will be back dated from date of claim. Link below
