HTC Reliability?

I bought a HTC Desire HD last year and I had a few hardware faults with the screen and GPS and the backlight on the buttons that couldn't be repaired after two attempts. I am after being offered a HTC sensation as a replacement as the phone shop no longer stock the Desire HD.

My question is are HTC phones that reliable? I have done some reading on the XDA forums and the GPS is a common fault. I looked at the Sensation but they seem so have issues with the touchscreen, overheating, dust on the screen and the power button. All these issues seem to be down to bad design.

Would I be better off getting a refund and trying the samsung or sony or LG smartphones. I know the HTC feels the most solid built but thats no use if there are so many problems. I kind of expected better for a €480 phone.

I'm not a fan of the iphone or apple in general so ruled that alternative out.

I can only speak about my experience with my HD. I've mine since December last year and my wife has hers from the same time. The two phones are still like the day they were bought and I'm using mine constantly.
You've had a faulty one and they tried to repair it. It happens. If you google anything for defects you'll get all the posts from the people with problems. I googled Galaxy S 2 issues and got nearly 6million hits. Its still a good phone. People who don't have problems generally don't post as much.

Never had any problems with my old dhd. No problems yet with the evo3d either.

what are the problems that you are having exactly? ( in detail i mean)

EDIT: iv a dhd since oct/nov.

I was going to upgrade to the sensation but it just didnt feel right. I hate that curved screen. I couldnt justify it as i felt it wa a step backward in design.
Then i thought the Evo 3D but thats not available in ireland on bill.
If you were getting 480 back, id get the evo 3d or the new one coming out....the vigor or runnymeade or something like that.

All positives for HTC so far. I think i'll accept the offer of the HTC sensation. I just have to get the phone shop to unlock it from vodafone. That might be easier said than done though as the phone shop I bought it from hasn't been very helpful and it took a strongly worded email to their head office to get them to replace my desire HD after they had failed twice to fix it.

When i bought my desire HD it was one of the first in the shops so it wasn't branded or locked to any network. Maybe the fact that it was one of the first batch may be the reason why the quality wasn't up to scratch.

OP, man I know how you feel, I have a HTC Desire HD and its the biggest load of crap I have ever laid my hands on. it was one of the most expensive phones in the shop when i bought it. The hardware and software is so faulty, only works when it wants to, freezes all the time, I have lived with it for a few months now but this weekend I'm storming Meteor and getting a new Samsung SII Silver version.

However HTC is normally reliable though, my friend had the HTC Desire and said it was really reliable, and my girlfriend has the later Desire S and it' s excellent. We just got scummed with the HTC Desire HD Model

I've had my original Desire since launch day and it's still just as excellent as the day I got it.

I have heard of some problems others have had, but the only problem I've had with my Desire is the lack of internal memory.

i thought all VF sensations came unlocked? well mine did:confused: before you pay someone to unlock it check it yourself first.

also i had a desire for a year and its a brilliant phone. i have the sensation now and am having the touchscreen problem. they definitely took their eye off the ball with QC lately.

My Heros touchscreen is pretty fecked nearly 2 years later. Unresponsive touches and random inputs are rather common.
