Im a big fan of the likes of Russian Football also watch some matches from Portugal.

Two players I have a lot of interest in particular are Alan Dzagoev from CSKA and Nicolas Gaitan of Benfica.

Anyone think these players could play in the Prem of more importantly do well.

Another player I'm surprised a top team in England hasnt gone for is Sakho, PSG's Captain. Probably been the best centre back in France for the last two years

All 3 are good enough to play in any of the top leagues but they are still very young and are probably better off staying where they are for the time being and gaining first team experience.

You left France open so expect French suggestions to flood in. If anyone wants Sakho PSG don't need to sell so it will cost big time.

to me Villa are calling out for a Gaitan style player and Liverpool/Newcastle/Arsenal/Spurs could all do with Sakho

I presume by English, you also mean British and Irish?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 278 ✭✭leposean

well I cant think of a single Irish/English/Scottish/Welsh player not playing in England who could play there at a decent level.

Maybe McGeady (Do not turn into a defend/attack McGeady thread)

Personally and fairly I think he would be a mid to lower level player who would be with the likes of Blackburn/Sunderland/Wolves/ and maybe move up but I'm more so thinking of players who could make an impact right away in top 8ish teams

Although speaking of Blackburn, they signed Simon Vukcevic, has anyone seen if he has played at all. He was unreal for Sporting.

Another player I forgot Matias Fernandez. Used to be with Villarreal and Sporting. Unreal playmaker.

Who could play in EPL means for any team or top teams?

Dzagoev, Guarin, Gaitan, Pastore:D, Lugano to name few.

The lad Messi could do a job probably

I always wanted to see Riquelme in the Premiership. could still do it even now especially if he was in a 3 man midfield. would be an awesome signing for a team outside of the big clubs where he could be like Adam was for Blackpool and really dictate what the team did from the center except you know better than Adam

Carlos tevez, if he decided to play :D

Seriously though I always thought juninho from Lyon would of been class in the EPL.

Strange thread IMO. There's hundreds of South American, French, Portuguese, Dutch, Scandanavian, Balkan and African players good enough for the EPL.

Would love United to sign M'Vila. I truly believe he is just the type of player our midfield is crying out for.

Don't quite get the point of this thread. Unless the OP is of the mindset of EPL is the greatest league in the world and you have to prove yourself there mentality.

As Pinturicchio said, hundreds of names I (or others here I'm sure) could mention that I'd be confident would prove their worth in the English PL.
I always wanted to see Riquelme in the Premiership. could still do it even now especially if he was in a 3 man midfield. would be an awesome signing for a team outside of the big clubs where he could be like Adam was for Blackpool and really dictate what the team did from the center except you know better than Adam

If there was a team and namely a manager who'd built his entire team around him I'd be sure he'd have done well. The example of Adam, a massively inferior player to Riquelme is a good example to convey the point.

There's a Portuguese lad, Ronaldo I think his name is. I've heard he's not bad.

That I definitely do not think. There is no way to decide which league is the best in the world. England probably generates the most money, Spanish is probably the fastest, Italian is very tactical, German is probably the most enjoyable in Europe.

As for this having to prove themselves idea. Not at all, I'm just assuming that most people on the forum would watch mostly EPL more than any other league and wanted to get some talking going about players that could be very good in it. LESSER KNOWN players.

No point in mentioning Messi and Ronaldo.

Riquelme in a 3 man midfield would be brilliant. He was amazing.

Adam hlousek would be a good singing, great little winger.

As fr south american I believe Lucas or Ganso would be brilliant in the league but would be even Better in Serie A or La Liga

Well Ganso is apparently signed for Real Madrid, its all been agreed they are just waiting till the end of the season.

Fair comment, I agree with everything you've said in fact up until the point of Ganso and Lucas. It's hard to know exactly how they'll take to a specific league. La Liga or Seria A might seem better suited in theory but there is nothing to say they couldn't be equally as good if they were in the EPL if not better. All if's and but's of course.

I follow Brazilian footy a good bit (mainly in the summer admittedly) and have not heard a peep other than Ganso saying it's his dream to play for Real a month or two ago.

I'm a big fan of his, and I hope he goes nowhere near Real especially when Ozil is there in his position.

First I'v heard of this and I watch most of the South American games and never once have heard that mentioned. Him going to Real is just dumb on his part. Kaka, Ronaldo, Di MAria, Ozil, just to name a few that are better and will start ahead of him. Going to a Porto/Benfica, Athletico/Valencia before moving up is a much better option, get settled in Europe then move to a superteam

Think Milan Badelj could do a job for any team looking to break into/stay in the CL spots. Great little deep lying playmaker type. Has a fantastic range of passing and is very composed on the ball. Replaced Modric at Zagreb when he left for Spurs and was touted as a replacement for him when he was linked to Chelsea.

Would love to see a player of the quality of Christian Eriksen or Lodeiro in the EPL. Ajax are very lucky to have two quality attacking midfielders of their ilk.

Arturo Vidal will be a huge star in a couple of years.

Himself, Isla, Medel and Sanchez make that team tick. When they played like they did in the WC and in the Copa, they are a joy to watch.

They must have some midfied if he can't get a game.

Vidal and M'Villa, both brilliant in that holding but not overly defensive role.

Badelj will be better than Modric, he will be playing at a top club soon for years to come.

you've given 4 nationalities. Brazil and Argentina aren't even in there. It's too broad a topic to be able to nail down where you're coming from.

Messi could probably do OK for instance.

Point taken but its meant to be the completely unobvious, the point of the thread is to talk about players who arent household names or who are good in a not so in the spotlight league for the general irish viewer who could play well in england.

Another player I thought of Gregory Van Der Weil

So far he has only played when it's been 3 in midfield. When it's 2, Marchisio and Pirlo have played.

I can't remember where I heard it in all honesty. I know I heard that he had completed a medical and it was all done basically it was just time. I am pretty sure it was a Spanish article as well rather than a Brazilian one, and it was saying how it was all agreed but Santos want to keep it quiet.

I will try find a link anyway, I know all that sounds sketchy but I am trying to find it :D

I think you're thinking about Neymar quite possibly mate, there were rumours he will join Real in January after Santos compete at the World Club Championship in December(?). I really do not understand the thinking if Real sign Ganso though, unless they were to randomly offload Ozil.... or, sigh, play Ganso in CM. Spanish media is pretty much entirely gutter press too. But if you find the link, do post it :)

Not even Mourinho is dumb enough to play Ganso CM, if anything he could play out wide and cut in.

Samaras would be a sensation in the EPL, 1 mill and I'll drive him there myself.

    Fee is flexible

    .

Considering Caldwell gets a game every week in the EPL, I doubt you can't think of a single player

.... he plays Coentrao as a CM.

That'd be even more dumb than playing him as a CM! It's either CAM or nothing else for Ganso. Real have plenty of players who can play there though - Di Maria, Altintop, Sahin, Kaka and Ozil . You can include Canales as well.

Silly thread imo, so many players from around europe and further that would be successful in the EPL, don't even know where to start.

How is the thread silly, I bet there are people who have never heard of Ganso, Dzagoev, Hlousek, MVilla, Vidal and may have looked up about them now that they have been discussed here.

As for someone saying Eto'o im sorry that the title of the thread isnt better but I was trying to get discussions about people outside the big teams that the average person watching footie wouldnt of heard of

Henrikh Mkhitaryan - the best Armenian player you have probably never heard of. Just wait until he comes to play against Ireland in the Aviva.
