Does Mac come with a basic text editor with the same functionality as Notepad or text pad in Windows. It should have no formatting whatsoever.

I have found a textedit when I searched but unfortunately this formats the text.

I'm copying and pasting into a web CMS and the copied text must have no formatting attached.

TextEdit does RTF by default, but Format > Make Plaintext will have it behave the same as Notepad.

Ye, I read this as a programming thing. But the op seems to just want a plain text editor.

(fraise and textmate for programming are excellent)
