Steiner is the main concession for beauty salons onboard, they are tough company to work for.
I know most passengers get their hair done before going on holiday, so they don't want to get their hair done onboard, maybe formal nights.

Yes you share cabin with 1 person, its not too bad, depends on who your cabin mate is, will be someone who works with you.
Pay will be basic + commission, hard to make commission if no one wants their hair done.

No bills, free food, cheap booze, travel world for free.
Beauty salon is also open 7 days a week 8am-10pm so u would work a lot.

Casino + duty free shops close while in port, easier job. :) more time off.

A friend of a friend (so take with a pinch of salt) works as a beautician with Norwegian Cruise Line and apparently only gets paid when she has a paying customer in the door. Any hours spent working but with no customers are unpaid.

Conditions vary from line to line and ship to ship but overall the hours are long , pay is poor with some staff relying on gratuities from passengers and to cap it all there are a number of disreputable ' agencies ' promising the sun , moon and stars working on cruise ships.

Purser is the name of that kind of job, basically a hotel receptionist. Open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Hours worked would be about 70 a week.
Lots of guest complaints from size of cabin, rough seas :) ac too hot/cold, the weather, and on + on +on. You would need really thick skin.

Google castaway website, they are uk recruitment agency, they have faq which should give you lots of answers.

Pursers very often are from a Hotel Management background.

Hotel management would be chief purser or hotel director, food & beverage manager. There is big money difference between chief purser & normal purser. (Admin job)
