    Hi,

Back in 2002 when my son was in primary school there was an accident in which one of the teachers lifted a chair which hit him in the mouth and knocked off half of his front tooth.
I contacted the headmaster who couldnt have been nicer and he agreed the school would pay for the corrective dentistry.

When I visted the dentist he said that because the child was only 10 yrs of age that there would be no point incarrying out any work as his teeth were not fully developed. He indicated that he would have to wait untill he was about 18 and then he would need a crown.

When I went back to the headmaster with this news he wrote me out a letter stating that when the work had to be done years later that he would see to it that the school would put in place funds to cover the dentisry work, however he also stated in the letter that this would only be made available on production of a receipt from the dentist i.e. we would have to pay for the work first.

We have had him re-assesed with 2 different surgeries and they both agree he will need a crown and some re-constructive work at a cost of 550euro from one and 650 from the other.

The problem now is that headmaster has left the school so I want to know if the letter he wrote will be sufficient to get the funds re-imbursed to us after we have shelled out for the work.

    Thank you.

Have you tried contacting the current headmaster to check? Showing him, of course, the letter from his predecessor.

Is there any way that anyone in internetland can actually answer this?
