hi all, forgive me if this is in the wrong section. could really use advice.

having recently sold my car im downgrading but am finding it really hard to find a 07 vw passat with any kind of decent spec, even highlines are few and far between.

anyway, while searching the small few available im finding that not one has a multi function steering wheel but can pick these up handy enough on ebay, and was wondering just how awkward/messy it would be to add one to a highline dash to work with a upgraded RNS510 MFD3 version B nav unit.

    any advice really appreciated. thanks.

You can buy the buttons but they are hideously expensive from VW, and used ones could be well used. You could buy a complete wheel excluding the airbag for close on the same money if you shop around. You'll need the control unit but I don't know if they are pre-wired for one. It should work with the RNS510 if it is. Just programme it in.

I've gotten a price of £350 for getting one in a vRS Octavia (can't get a manual with a mfsw) from a place in the UK and am considering it as I will be passing nearby soon enough. If the car has a DSG box i *think* it's a case of installing the buttons and programming them in.

thanks so much for your reply.. i havent purchased a car yet but if i decide to buy a DSG can i assume that it would be easier?

also, to get it fitted, there are loads of how to guides online but if i wasnt brave enough (fear of exploding airbags!) how much could i expect to pay to get it installed professionally?

I cannot recomend anyone for this giving the nature of the job but I feel your pain OP. I think buying a new wheel is a better idea plus they look a lot better. I have a 08 Highline and the MFSW was a 450 euro option..:rolleyes:

I was only saying here the other night you get the same wheel and stereo as a Caddy van.. FFS....

OP better idea buy an Accord or a Mondeo Titanium..
