Hi everyone, I really hope someone can offer me some advice here.

I got fined way back in October last year for not having a tv license. The fine was £280. My own fault but I was willing to pay it, got on the ball to see about paying in installments as I just cannot afford to fork that kinda cash out in one go. The lady on the phone said she would send out an application form. The form never arrived.

I managed to find one online and filled it in, emailed it to the relevant place. A couple of weeks later I had heard nothing so I called them and they said they'd never received it so were going to send me out another one. It never arrived either. By this point the police had called me saying that a warrant had been issued for a non-payment of the fine weeks before via post but I honestly didn't receive a thing. I lodged a complaint in the end due no absolutely no one wanting to help me resolve this but it's never been followed up.

The police arrived at my house a few weeks ago to arrest me but let me off for a few more weeks to try and sort it. I explained that I had been trying, I'd complained but he just bypassed it all and didn't even acknowledge it. I just had a missed call from a blocked number on my phone and im pretty sure it was the cops again but I didn't answer it.

I just dont know what to do. Im annoyed that I've tried to resolve it, I've been told that paying by instalments won't be accepted by this stage. What annoys me most is people not doing their jobs and landing me in this situation, my complaints being ignored. I don't have anyone I can even borrow this cash off in the meantime. Where do I go from here? Im a single parent, I just can't go to jail, but I am willing to sort this out.

i guess this isnt really a personal issue but i will give you some advice,

get onto your local garda station, ask to speak to the warrant officer, every station has one, or even find out when he/she is working and call down.

they have the warrant for your arrest and may be willing to allow you to pay off the fine.
get their name if they are not working. keep trying till you speak to him/her, they maybe able to help you out.
however, im sure there is a LOT of people in your position now, unable to pay fines etc. so dont get your hopes up.
    its worth a try though

    Hi there,

Unfortunately we are neither qualified nor allowed to offer legal advice.

You are best to either contact those that issued the fine directly or seek professional legal advice.

    All the best.
