I have had some experiences of this in the past. It's normally the housing section of the local authority that administrate the grants, with one annual closing date per local authority. Works have to be undertaken by a C2 contractor, within a set period of been approved for the grant. Any planning etc needs to be approved prior to making the application. You will also need 2 or 3 quotations to accompany the application.

Thanks for the reply. This is the background, general idea of what i want to get done. Would anyone know my best approach to get this done? I know its a bit complicated.

The house is a 1970's built council house design. It is a three bedroom semi detached house with a downstairs bathroom in Co Tipperary. The only heating in the house is a fire in the sitting room with an immersion water tank/hot press next to it. There is also a Squirrel Morso Stove in the kitchen. This stove was installed inccorrectly, so needs to be reinstalled correctly.
The house needs quite alot of work, and it covers more than one trade.

I want to install a central heating system throughout the house, with an oil tank in the yard. I would also like if the fire in the sitting room could heat the central heating system throughout the house. I would like there to be, a radiator in the bathroom (downstairs), the three upstairs bedrooms and the downstairs hall. Is this possible?

I want to refit the bathroom, tile the walls, install an electric shower, hang a shower door, new mirror, fittings etc.
I would also like to bring electricity to an outside prefab tool shed, lights and a plug socket.

South Tipp's date for grants is normally around April/May, the info is normally on their website. Not sure about North Tipp.

Your best bet would be to engage a professional to prepare a schedule of works/specification so it can be tendered.

You should also be entitled to some of the SEAI grants as well for the works to the heating/boiler.

Hi OP how are you getting on.

I'm also interested in this grant and have just been reading through the details and the application form

    1. Max Household Income allowed to qualify is 30k.
    2. Max Grant is 10.5k
    3. Priority is given to people with medical needs and or financial need.

What surprises me is that there is no mention of any savings been taken into account or disregarded, which seems strange.

    4. Are you allowed have any savings at all and still qualify.

Anyone been there and have the teeshirt:p

Its become very difficult to get approval of late as most local authorities are strapped for cash and have little or nothing to give out under the scheme ( or other grand schemes) in my experience, other than emergency funding. If I remember correctly the build cost needed to be in excess of 40,000 to gain the full grant of 10,000.

Any of the grant applications I've assisted with, the amount of savings was never questioned.

I doubt it but there are various local voluntary groups who may be able to source these alarms. I know they provide personal alarms, night latches, etc etc. The SVP would be a good starting point but there are groups such as "care of the aged" who would administer the schemes.
